permatex??

Ok, I posted this same issue in the tranny fluid section and have received no responses.

When dropping the pan and changing the gasket and all, what is recommended to seal the bolts? Since they come w/ sealant on them from the factory and that is likely gone when doing a change, the common statements are permatex on the bolts and someone suggested #3 grade. My question is what grade of permatex is best and where to get it??? I went to NAPA and their like, "duh, I dunno. Try this here stuff." (they had no grade #3 and did not find it in a book, either) (AZ had no #3 grade, either)

Well, I don't wanna "try" anything and screw up sensors or what not or do the job over again in a week. The closest I find on permatex website is their "3D' aerospace stuff which doesn't seem right. What is the specific grade that won't thread lock the bolts but will seal and not harm the sensors? Seems easy enough, but NAPA knows nothing on this application.

Thanks.

The blue permatex is sensor-safe.

So the basic thing is the temp needs and that it not harden and crack and is sensor safe and that is the extent of it?

I used Permatex #2 on the bolts.
