oil analysis for Nissan Ester Oil
All,
Here is my blackstone labs oil report for my 09 Max running ester oil, I haven't had a chance to really analyze the results yet nor compare to other reports but here you go.

Will you continue to use this oil? Will you get a UOA for the next change? And, what does Nissan charge for this magic elixir?
Viscosity seems a bit low. Fuel dilution is non-existent.
Judging from you signature/stable, you must love the current VQ engines.

Yes see no reason to stop using it, hell look at that TBN number. Yes I get UOA on every change, still running this oil however I just took out an sample plan to run it at least 7500 maybe 10000 just being extra cautious. Viscosity is on the money for 5w30.

Where do you pick up your Ester? Do you get it from your local dealer or have you been able to find it somewhere online cheaper? Thanks!

What is the status of the UOA at 7,500? Was it submitted to the lab yet? Thanks!

It seems this ester oil is just a conventional oil with a healthy dose of moly and some kind of ester additive.
We shall see how the Ultra does on my first UOA.

Copper wear on your engine is definitely high, but that could be because the engine is relatively new. I had the same type issue on a new Honda (3.5L) we had and it eventually settled down. I'm not real impressed with the fact that the oil was essentially out of viscosity range at 4600 miles...that's pretty ridiculous knowing that one can not trust Nissan's premium oil to maintain its viscosity for the full length of Nissan's recommended OCI.
Here's a couple reports from two of my vehicles using AMSOIL Signature Series 0w-30....a '00 I-30 and an '06 Frontier with the 4.0.
This particular sample/report below, on the I-30 was taken two years ago with 7500 miles on the oil... Wear metals compared favorably to universal averages even though my sample ran for 41% longer than the averages against which it was compared. Viscosity was also very good...pretty much in the mid-range for a 30-weight oil.
This is a current analysis taken last week from my Frontier with just over 10,000 miles on the oil (43K on the engine). Again, wear metals lower than or comparable to Universal Averages, even though my mileage exceeded those averages by over 75%. Even with >10K on the oil, viscosity was well within range. Silicone is reported as being elevated, but my value of 29 is actually lower than the Universal Average when you extrapolate the U/A values over my extended drain.
My other Nissan, a 4th gen ('98) Maxima now has 150K...just changed the oil on it this weekend after a 6-month, 12,000 mile run on AMSOIL Signature Series...absolutely zero oil consumption on this 12 year old engine with this mileage on the oil. My kid is driving the stuffins out of this car, but its holding up well.
Let me know if anyone has questions/needs assistance with AMSOIL.

There really seems to be little reason to use this oil:
