Help! snapped coolant lines near heater core

i was changing my thermostat and coolant because my heat is starting to go south while checking my hoses I took the top hose that goes into the cab from the frame that connects to the plastic tubes that go to the heat and one of the tubes had snapped off half in the hose and the other half is just in half I would post a pic if I knew how but I need to know if I can change the tube from the outside or not ?
