floor jack and jack stand Qs

I need to get a jack and jack stands soon for just maintenance and some modding Is it ok to lift the front and back of the car with 4 jack stands or is that unsafe? I was thinking about getting the Craftsman 3 ton jack and 2 jack stands pairs from Sears. Anyone have these, if so how are they? Heres the links...

We don't need a 3 ton jack, even a 2 ton is more than enough. I actually just bought those this week but haven't used them yet. Only reason I got them is because of the high lift range.

I was planning on going with the 2 ton but I also wanted the higher lift range. Any way to do the craftsman club thing online?

wal-mart jack stands are nice and firm, price is reasonable and serves its function very well. i'm 5'11" and it gives me a lot of spaces under the car to work with stuff from y-pipe, exhaust wrap, O2s, etc...

I have the 3 ton jack with jackstands. I already had 4 jackstands from years ago. It is safe to support the whole car on jackstands as long as you have the stands on level concrete and place the saddles at the proper support points. Check for stability before doing any work underneath. By that I mean gently rock the car to make sure it is firmly resting on the stands. The jack and stands work great for me.

I have a 3.5ton jack and I forget the Jackstand rating. You really only need 2 jack stands most of the time, but the extras are handy.

Trust me on this, get one that is easy/quick to pump, ie. moves more fluid so it lifts the arm migher each pump. It makes it alot easier when working on the car.

I have heavy stuff because I work on trucks too, not just dinky maximas.

I really like to give the car a good shove to see if it's stable, better that than dead.
