Hello everyone...
What do you guys use? What do you use them for? also what brand do you guys have? I'm currently in the market for one, and would like buy a nice one that will have good power, and have a great life.
Any suggestions?

I used to have a 1/2" makita cordless impact gun, however it was bulky, batteries didn't last long, and it wasn't powerful. Heck, my brothers dewalt impact driver had more ***** than my makita impact gun.

I have 2:
"Mini" 12v Dewalt Cordless Impact (rated to 96 ft lbs) works great on smaller things
18v 1/2" Cordless Dewalt Impact rated to 300 ft-lbs for lugs/suspension work, also works great
I HIGHLY recommend Dewalt. My 1/2 driver can take off lugs in no time, and the smaller wrench provides a suprising amount of power and can fit almost anywhere.

I use this bad boy. I mainly use it for lug nuts, but have taken off LCA bolts, axle nut, pulley bolt etc... I recommend this one and the dewalt, I've heard they are great also but never had experience with one. And if you get this one make sure to get the kit with a Lithium battery, lasts forever.

for cordless electric....in terms of breaking power there is Snap-On, and then there is everything else. I've had my Snap-On for 5 years now (and it was already 3-4 years old) and it still takes off the biggest, gnarliest bolts on anything....old rusted deck lack bolts....old rusted main hub bolts on cars....etc. I finally got the batteries re-cored last month for about $70 for the pair.
Snap-Ons are expensive, but they kill everything else I've ever used (DeWalt, Craftsman, Makita, and a few other cheap ones).
Now if you just want to do lugnuts and basic stuff, any cheap one can do that. Depends on what you're looking for though. If you want to do a 400lb-ft chassis bolt or something, go higher end.
as you can see, it's taken quite a bit of abuse and still works great

Cordless Impact Gun
I recently purchased the deWalt 12v Lithium Drill and Impact gun combo for around 200 USD. While the impact gun is not the strongest in the bunch, I have used it on the car and to hang shelves using Tapcons (in concrete and cinder block walls). Strained it a bit on the big ones.
The light weight and torque settings are a big plus and the lightweight drill with built in light comes in real handy. And what can I say, it's a deWalt.

I'm a big Milwalkee tool fan....anyone heard about the 28v, 1/2 drive, Milwalkee 0779-22 and it's 18V, 1/2 drive 2663-20 little brother????? I'm pretty sure either will be the ticket for me....

Im sure that one works good, they do have some power on them, don't know to stand with the Snap On but with the rest yes, seen it in action on a ship flange with bolts of about a 1 1/16 and it handled great....that's when I was like I want on of those....

What on the Blue Point? IIRC, it was rated at 525....but I just remembered I have an older Li Makita 18v impact so I'm going to see what it's rated at, see what it can handle, then if it's not enough, I'll have something to go on....

I have DeWalt 12V Max 3/8 impact wrench. I love it. It is NOT designed to take off lug nuts but just to prove it, I did manage to take them off. It is rated at 96 ft-lb of max torque and if you have the patience, it will bang its little heart out until it removes a lug nut. It is not happy doing it but it will do it.
Where it shines is in its useability. It is extremely well balanced in your hand and is tiny compared to most other 3/8 impact wrenches. With the 3 led no-shadow lights, it is a pleasure to use it.
For lug nuts, I purchased 1/2 inch corded from HF. On paper, it is supposed to be twice the power than the little DeWalt but if I had to have only one impact, it will be the DeWalt without a doubt (and a breaker bar to replace the corded impact :-).
If you ever managed to get the small DeWalt in your hand, you will end up owning it. So don't fondle it in a store unless you plan to shell out the bucks for it. You will regret touching it :-)
