After assisting my deceased neighbor's son in refurbishing the house he gave me his dad's Devilbiss 60 gallon air compressor with a 6.5HP motor.

This RAL6560V was manufactured back in 1998 but my neighbor only used it to inflate tires on his several vehicles. I threw in a new air filter and flushed it 3 times with cheap non-detergent 10W30 oil. After the drained oil started looking clean I threw in Dewalt synthetic 20W20 air compressor oil.

Nice! Its only 110v? I'd love to have that. Mine is only 30 gal and I give it a work out for sure.

It draws 20amps and plugs into a 240V outlet directly behind it. I installed the 240V outlet 2 years ago for a mig welder. Had to use over 100 feet of 10-2 wire to make it from the breaker box to the garage wall. Using 8 feet of that left over 10-2 wire I made an adapter wire with a receptacle for the air compressor on one end and plug for the 240V outlet on the other.

Here's a picture of the compressor's plug going into the adapter wire then the 240V outlet.



I had thoughts of changing this plug to the same one my mig welder uses but I didn't want to mess with the compressor's wire harness.

Using my air-hogging hvlp paint guns I sprayed water onto masking paper comparing my 2 air compressors. The water came out much faster and finer using the 60 gallon 6.5HP devilbliss than the 10 gallon 2HP central pneumatic I previously used.

My right doors and quarter are currently sanded and I got 2 new fenders boxed. When it warms up to 60f I'll start painting.
