Does everyone get the ticking sound?

I got a 99 maxima es 5spd, and everytime i shut off the engine, it starts making these ticking noises for about 2 or 3 minutes. Just wondering if thats a common thing, or if my car's messed...

thanks,
Dev.

thats perfectly normal. all our cars do that. Its because of the heat causes the metals to expand and contract (cooling off)

OK j/k. What everyone else said-aluminum block-its normal. This is the same reason it heats up quick when running.

correct me if im wrong.. but I believe the noise you are describing is the the noise of a catalytic converter doing its job.

Alright, thanks guys,
just wanted to know if everyone else was getting the same sound i was...haha

my dad has a 99 grand prix and it NEVER makes that noise, driven hard or not for long or short drives, its quiet when the engine shuts off. Thats why i was wondering, but it seems to be normal, so thats fine. Thanks again.
