Crank position sensor signal modification to adjust timing
Does any one know if the crank position sensor signal is analog or digital?
An EE friend of mine thinks it would be easy, for him atleast, to build a module to advance/retard this signal so that we could play with the base ignition timing.
Hmm do you think that modifying this signal would also effect the fuel injector timing?
Mabye it would be easier to intercept all 6 coil trigger wires and modify their signals?
Any help is appreciated!

Let me read up on my FSM today and I'll see if I can give you more info.

Digital. All it is is a magnetic pickup that triggers once per rev. from the crank and indicates TDC to the ECU. It's located right under the crank pulley and is triggered by the two tags the stick out from the base of the crank pulley.
Take a look at the sensor yourself. You'll see that you just need to find a way to move the sensor to the right such that it triggers a little earlier (TDC is no longer TDC, but a degree/two/etc BTDC), you'll trick the ECU into starting all ignition firing a couple degrees earlier.
I'd like to find a spare (used) crank position sensor (REF) to mess with. Bore out the bolt holes so that there's room to move it, and remove the locating pin on the sensor. I think that's all that's needed.
