It's on the small side... the JWT and Stillen filters offer much more surface area. More surface area = more air.

Doh! well I guess its a start then huh?

you get what you pay for. I payed 39.99 for it. they had a bigger one that already could be bolted on to the existing MAF for 69.99 but didnt want to pay that much. man I didnt want this kind but I got eager plus I drove 45 minutes to go and get it so I didnt want to go empty handed. I wanted to get the cone filter with the inverted cone in the front but they didnt have it. Now Im kinda scared that I might lose horse power because of the size. Do you think that coudl actually happen?

it's still better than the stock box though. You can always upgrade later. Slap it on and see how it all works out.

okay seems alright the only thing is that after a

week of it being on I have to recalibrate the maf adapter Manually to take advantage of the real horse power gain. I wonder why my Maf doesnt adjust electronically automatically like the new ones do? hmmm...

I have.......

one and I like it,I have the Ractive superflow Intake chrome($20.00) with the adapter from lightningmotorsports.com($25.00)and I really like it,it has an inverted cone on it in the front,a pretty goog amount of air flow to me,to me most of the filters are all the same, they do the same thing you just end up paying for the name, they are all universal, unless you get a CAI then the tubing gives you more response but just an intake filter is pretty good if you don't/can't afford to pay for a CAI

It does in closed loop operation but, from what my ECU was telling me its compensatingly rich in closed loop also. Once you get into open loop (WOT) the car just runs even richer. Our MAF's are the older design before check engine lights and OBD-I. So we can recalibrate ours as per the FSM. Damn you gotta love that FSM . Basically all your doing is getting the compensating mixture ratio feedback back into the 5% rich/lean window .

ahhhh I kinda like the sound of that

so we have the choice to recalibrate stuff. seems alright just need to find some one to do this with me. running rich wont be my cup o tea, so Ill have to take care of the recalibration in a respectable amount of time. thanks nismo

You may want to oil the filter. My friend got a ractive filter and it seemed really dry. And we couldn't figure out why it wasn't picking up any dirt after like 4 months of useage. We looked at the filter and that thing was dry!

oil.....................................

You can use any kind of intake filter oil I used K&N it is all the same the oil is for catching dirt and debris from getting into the engine, you wash it in some detergent or K&N filter cleaner or any degreaser let it air dy and then reoil and reinstall, clean it when you see it getting real dirty, just basic maintenance observation

and the other question Ractive filters are not foam, foam filters are very bad overtime they break down and the foam deteriates and the foam can get sucked into your engine which is very bad.
