are sidemarker lights a must?

I have clear corners and i was just wondering if it is legal to leave the sidemarker bulbs out so that they serve just as a reflector? I was considering this because I hate the way my headlights, clearance lights, and sidemarkers' colors don't match up, and i figure that the clearance and headlights should be enough to indicate the front and sides of the car. thanks.

I run mine all amber and even installed a BMW sidemarker light on teh fender cause I did not enjoy getting run off the road from someone saying they did not see me even though my lights were already on...I did not want to give them any more of an excuse.

...back to the topic, i dont run my side bumper lens either. I was actually thinking of just wireing it up to blink with the front so it makes a sort of sidemarker without much work.

well i think i'll just use the oem clear bulbs and see how i like them for a while, because they look light yellowish in comparison to my whiter looking headlights and clearance lights. I just wanted to make a decision before i secure my clear corners in place - one of them broke free and dangled by the wire while i was driving on the highway!

That looks great... i was wondering how the new 3 series side-marker light would look on a 5th gen. I think the all-elliptical shapes would mesh well.
