Whats the best way to relocate the battery?
Whats the best way to relocate the battery?
hi guys. about to do full IC piping. just curious on whats the best way to relocate the battery. i.e. run the wires INSIDE the car or underneath the car with a protective sleeve?
just wanna see some options.
as far as the ic goes. i'll probably do something like Rich (aka the boosted yellow 4th gen with skyline tails)
down from the blower, in front of the bumper and back up near where the hole for the PR cai hole was.
thanks

Hehe, actually, this was just done on my car last night to make room for my intercoolers too. The shop just hid the wire (protected as well) unter all the crap in the interior...I'll actually get a closer look tomorrow afternoon so I'll let you know exactly how they wired it.

I may relocate my battery in the future, but shouldn't you (although not totally necessary) also run the ground back up to the front of the car to the original ground.-hype
The folks who relocated my battery to the trunk used 1/0 wire routed through the inside. They grounded the battery in the trunk. They told me they had thought about running the wire underneith the car inside a soft copper tube. But they ultimately decided not to, since they didn't have any copper tubing on-hand, and they didn't want to make a special trip to Home Depot to get some!
Make sure you have a sealed battery (like an Optima), unless you like to wiff poisonous fumes occasionally. You also might want to fuse the line from the engine bay back, just in case you have a side impact that would cut/ground the wire and potentially throw sparks.
Good luck.

you should have seen under my door sills and carpeting, 2gauge, 4gauge, and 8gauge power wire, misc gauge wires, and 2 1/2" air lines when i had air suspension.. that took some work..
Re: Whats the best way to relocate the battery?
All my wires are tucked under the car and tied of with zip ties. I
have dual 2 gauge MonsterPower running with just the standard sheath.
Also have an in-line fuse for protection.
The ground is to the frame just under the trunk. But wouldn't ya
know, I'm tracking down a ground loop that only causes noise when
the air conditioner/interior fan is running. What a pain!! I have
no idea what brought this about - the ground contacts are all clean
and to bare metal. Stupid interference started right away.
Anyhow, just something to be careful of. I'm guessing another
ground got dropped somewhere in the process so just pay close
attention to the rest of the connections and I just haven't found it
yet.
