PPL w/ X-drilled AND slotted rotors...Help!

I just installed the Brembo dimple-drilled AND slotted rotors last night. Pic Here:

I also replaced the brake pads. The pads are Carbon Metallic...good quality.

During soft braking, I hear a whirring noise (dimples?) & during hard braking those slots are causing 'taka...taka...taka...taka...' noise (for lack of better word )

Are you also experiencing increased noise levels with these rotors?
The braking effectives has definitely improved...but unfortunately the noise has also. It sounds like something is broken & is about to fall apart! It is very very annoying.

Is this normal? If so, is there a way to turn down the noise levels? Different pads maybe?!

Thx guys...

It's normal to hear a slight 'grating/slicing' noise proportional to tire speed.... kinda like "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" at higher speeds...

Since the carbon metallics have a higer coefficient of friction than normal pads, they will inherently make more noise. Mine made a fair amount of noise for the first few days...but after that...and now (like when you drove my car yesterday) they are nearly silent.

those aren't "Brembo" rotors, they're Raceconcept rotors.

Accdg to the info provided by Raceconcepts, they use Brembo blanks for the 4th gen.

They will make a bit of noise, especially when you first use them. Once they break in they are not so bad, though I can still occasionally feel and hear mine. Small trade off for the better braking.

And it came in a red/white "Brembo" box AND it has a full warranty card from Brembo Italy!

A majority of companies use Brembo 'blanks', basically just stock rotors, and they cut/drill/plate however they desire. Stillen even uses Brembo blanks.

You're right Brian!
Those Carbon Metallics grabs pretty good! I didn't realize that you too had X-drilled rotors! Cool! Your brakes are completely silent. Mine were too...until I got me some new Brembo's

I have carbon metallic pads along with crossed drilled rotors and when they get really hot, they get loud as hell (typical stop from around 80+ mph).

O.k. my rotors are installed and are working perfect. I was getting a grinding noise for about two days it was due to the driver?s side front rotor the heat shield was too close to the rotor and it was rubbing. My installer just bent the heat shield a little to move it out of the way and now they are super quiet just like stock. There is a ever so slight hiss when coming to a hard stop but you have to practically have A/C off radio off and open windows and listen really good to hear it but that is just from the gassing of the slots I think. Anyway this might help your problem just take off the wheel and look behind the rotor to see if the heat shield is touching. One more thing I did have a taka taka noise it was the sweeping of the heat shield across the slot and the noise got louder over the two days.

I understand the heat shield issue. But the 'taka...taka' noise only comes when I apply the brakes & is directly proportional to the wheel rotation.!!

I checked & re-checked the rotors...and I do not see any rubbing of the heat sheild. It is the pads grabbing onto the slots on the rotors!!

Companies such as Stillen, KVR, Powerslot, etc will use the Brembo blank and have the machining and plating done. This does not make it a true Brembo rotor. Brembo now does sell stock size drilled/slotted rotors. Those are the true Brembo units.

Warranty? As soon as someone other than Brembo touches it, the warranty is null and void.
