RSB causing my car to squeek...A LOT !HELP!

a few weeks ago i posted this thread:
HELP!!! Squeeking coming from in front of my rear driver's side

something was squeeking under my car and i couldnt figure out what it was. i took it to the dealer today and they solved the problem by removing my RSB.

now, i know i should have considered the RSB to be a possible problem. and i DID. i even readjusted it but the problem still persisted. if you read that original thread you'll see the steps i took.

so, now that i know it was the RSB that was causing the squeeking i have a question....WHY??

many people have an Addco RSB and their cars do not squeek. what do you think was causing mine to squeek. the RSB had been on for weeks before the squeeking started and i didnt mess with anything on the RSB to cause it to happen. i did lower my car and that is when the squeeking started.

anyway, there is too much to say. bottom line is: i want to put the RSB back on but i dont want the squeeking. what do i do?

Do a search on Addco RSB ... if I remember reading, something has to be replaced on those RSB's.

I believe the Addco bar comes in two flavors, rubber bushings & graphite injected polyurethane bushings.

Five bucks says you have the rubber ones.

I had this problem, but it didnt crop up until 2 years later. And even so, it only happened when I went up a curb'd driveway. Anyway, the solution is to remove the sway bar bushings, and grease them. I used trailer hitch ball grease becasue that stuff is very resistant to water, etc. So far, excellent results.

So from a visual standpoint, how does one know if the bushing is rubber or the other?

i had the same problem and the dealer blamed it on the rsb eventhough the sound was coming from the front right side of the car. I just went down and tightened everything cause it some got a little loose and straightened the brackets up. But I don't have a addco.. might not help that much

does the squeeking come from the rear end of the car or is the sound more prominent from one side? (i.e: rear left or rear right)

it was actually ONLY on the driver's side until a few days ago. but even after the passenger side started doing it, it was much more obvious on the driver's side.

to be honest, i wouldnt be able to tell you which bushings i have except for the face that Jason (Cutlr7) helped me install it and he pointed out to me that i did not have the same bushings as him. and he said he had the polyurethane bushings. so im guessing i DONT have them.

any one have a picture of the polyurethane bushings? i seem to remember Jason saying his were red whereas mine are black.

lets just say i have the non-polyurethane bushings. if i were to get the polyurethane ones would that prevent the squeeking noise?

Doubt it, some of the poly-u bushings came in black as well.

Rubber bushing will generally not cause squeeking. I have urethane on my front bar and they were queeeking. I removed them and lubed them with waterproof trailer grease. (avail from any marine supply for about 3 bucks). No more squeeking.

RSB

I was the guy who helped install this on his car, I installed two of these on both my maximas and never had any squeeking. I think he will resolve this problem with the bushings that Addco is sending him. The Polys are on the way

that almost sounded perverse

I had Addco rsb for 1 month or so before I switched over to Stillen. My car was lowered on both instances. I had absolutly NO problems with the Addco rsb (easily installed, no noise at all).
As a matter of fact, I may sell my Stillen rsb and go back Addco later b/c I'm going through some stereo and a/c woes and need some cash

Anyway.. just want to share my good experience with Addco here.

you can't really tell for sure just by looking at them. originally i thought the polys were red and the rubber ones were black but according to Addco the polyurethane ones come in black sometimes as well.

but, if its red its almost definitely polyurethane. if it's black then it is most likely rubber but not definitely.

no, they are sending them at no charge.

oh, i wasnt knocking Addco at all. i had the bar on my car for a couple months with no problems but the squeeking started right after i lowered my car.

im going to lube these polyurethane bushings when i get them and use those. hopfully that means no more squeeking.

You can tell by feeling/ squeezing it. The poly will be dense, stiff, and have a wax like feel to them. The rubber will be soft and feel like a tire.
But if you got it from Greg im sure their poly. I have lots of squeeking on mine, I'm going to try grease, and see what happens.

I just looked at my bushings and there seems to be an inner layer that's smooth. It doesn't feel waxy and it most definitely doesn't feel like a tire.

I got the whole set from Cattman. It did seem like the package was an open-box item though (e.g. scratches on the bar, pack w/ bolts were open)

assuming mine ARE the rubber ones, i wouldnt say it feels like a tire. the way i described it to the Addco rep on the phone was that it feels like a "spongey plastic". not quite as bouncy and sticky as most people generally picture rubber to be.

His site says "Comes standard with ADDCO’s “optional” urethane bushings." So i guess that would be a given.
