Need windshield replacement help!!!
I started a thread about this in the 4th gen forum, but haven't gotten any replies yet and I HAVE to get this taken care of ASAP. What I want to know is, has anyone had problems with the top molding after having their windshield replaced? I got mine replaced last week (all covered by insurance, phew!) and the molding wasn't flush with the glass so they tried to fix it a couple times and no dice. So, the guy tells me he'll have to "wrap" the whole windshield and NOT use the original top molding. I'd rather use what is original to the car, but if anyone has done this and it's better with the "wrap", I'd like to hear about it. This company has worked on my windshield 3 times now and I've already lost faith in everything they tell me. Any help is most appreciated. Thanks!
the moulding is rubber...once they yank the glass out they pull the moulding. if you want it to go back looking just like factory..better buck up for new moulding from the dealer...it's not cheap either.
Great. The molding I'm referring to clips into a rubber piece between the glass and the roof. They replaced the rubber piece b/c they thought that was the problem, but it didn't fix it. From what I can figure out, what they want to do is get rid of the rubber piece AND the molding that clips into it, and replace them both with one rubber piece that wraps the whole windshield. In theory this sounds better, one less thing to break. I'm just trying to figure out how my car is different than the thousands of others that have gone thru the same process without problems.
