i'm gonna call bs on this one. i guarantee the new accord (if it does come with the 240 3.0 engine) will not hit under 6 secs 0-60 stock. the torque simply won't be there.

motortrend got 6.57 0-60 with the auto accord. Keep in mind, it is a 5 speed auto so it will probably be more efficient than the maxima/altima autos. The 6-speed will have a tough time breaking into the 5s because the newer autos are much more efficient than before.

I am still waiting for Motor Trend to test a 2k2 or 2k3 Maxima 6spd.
Usually Motor Trend gets the fastest time out of all the magazines.

A car with that hp might be able to get those numbers if they geared the car with very short gears. ie the M3/M5 ever wonder how they get a 4.3 second 0-60 time but there 1/4 mile time is still 13 seconds?

I don't know bout those figures but have you seen pics of the new accord? Looks like a total bite off the S-Class in the rear. Check it out and you'll know what i mean.

Most Maxima buyers will probably not buy an Accord because they're not used to the idea of paying list price and waiting 2 months to get the car. They're the opposite, whaddya mean no Navigation and HLSD for 21,500? Can I get free splashguards then?

If the new Accord looks like an S-Class good for Honda. They never miss a beat and say hello to C&D 10 Best.

looking at past accord models, all their cars hover around 3000lb.

what is amazing is the 2002 camry v6 is about .2s quicker to 60 than the v6 accord of this year, even while the camry is about 2-300lb heavier.

maybe honda is learning that its rice image is good but should put performance to reality?

in any case, i will still NEVER buy an accord...

It's good that honda is offering the 03 V6 coupe with a 6-speed.

It's BAD that they look like complete crap. Looks like a stratus front-end and some kind of squished-tails version of the camry rear or something. I can't even describe that rear but it's definitely not S-class-comparable to me.

It's weird that they're offering navigation so loosely. Pretty soon civic DXs are going to have navi...

I'd say it looks slightly similar to the SL. Take this shot of the Accord and this shot of the SL 55 AMG

you're about the first person i've heard that actually likes the look of the accord (including MANY honda friends).

it's kinda funny actually - if nissan made the new maxima look like that you'd probably post about how ghey it is for nissan to copy the s-class.

Whoops, I was just going off the sedan rear pics that I've seen, which seem to be quite different. Amusingly enough, on C&D's website, they have a pic of the sedan rear, but in the URL of the pic it's listed as ...Civic_rear...

That does look quite benz-ish, if not s-class, then CLK-ish.

Yeah, that was my first thought too. But I don't think that's half bad. They just don't have their own distinctive look...
