7 grand for a 95 SE sounds like a lot of money. You should look around more and find the same for under 6 grand. What auctions are you going to?

Is your car giving you much trouble, or you just want a stick shift?
I doubt that my buying selling your 98 GXE and buying and older car that you don't know, you are going to be much better off. You may end up paying for repairs on that 5 spd...Save up some more cash and get a newer car. My friend bought at 98 Se 5spd 58K mi @ Manheim Dealer Auction in PA for like $10,500..

For future reference: Whenever you are dealing with a private sale ALWAYS get a bill of sale for each party. This applies for both a buyer and seller

Bill of Sale should include the following at a minimum:

(1) Parties full legal names and addresses
(2) VIN # of vehicle
(3) Year, make, model of vehicle
(4) exact mileage of vehicle at time of sale
(5) Date and time of sale
(6) Name of financial institution holding title
(7) Instruction on how to handle delivery of title (if loan involved)
(8) Any warranties. If none state "AS IS".
(9) Have both parties sign the Bill of Sale and retain oine original copy.

-Of course if there are other oddities involved in the transaction, you can add those in as well-the above listing was a minimum.

I went to Bordentown in NJ. I just got back from it again today as a matter of fact. Didn't really see much choices. They have like 45 99 maximas coming off leases and like 5 95s and 4 96s.. i saw 2 5 speeds today, a 95 gxe with 138k miles and not a single option and a 96 SE 5 speed with a sunroof and nothing else, and 78k miles, i was going to bid on it but it had a dented rear bumper and the battery kept on dying, they kept boosting it back up and it would die again. I guess the alternator was messed up and who knows if i would be able to drive that thing back home to NY with it barely being alive for a few minutes. 99 SEs can be had for around 11-15k with 30-60k miles and options. But I am looking to spend around 7k..

The reason I'm shopping is because with this car i think i bit off more than i can chew in terms of the price. Basically laying out everything and i'm not that happy with it. Another thing is, my parents' car blew the head gasket and it is very old, so they got rid of it like they've been planning to do for a while and my dad is looking for a 4 door midsize sedan, he likes my car and would drive it and doesn't want me to deal with selling it, they are going to take it off my hands, i still owe them $ for it anyways, i will go with something cheaper, even if i pocket 2 grand, that's 2 grand for school or 2 grand for my rent. Plus yes, I want a 5 speed

you should have gotten the 95 GXE "bare bones". you would definitely have a maxima then.

Bolt-ons, JWT ECU and you would be one of the faster N/A Maximas on the board.....

Usually the 5spd Maximas that are sold @ auction, especially with high miles, are very neglected cars. Just be careful. Good luck and keep us posted.
