Ryan Stark @ Blackstone Labs responded to my e-mail request and they are sending me an oil test kit......

Are they fairly prompt about sending this stuff?

Did you get a free sample kit first, and then purchased another kit from them?

How did you find out about these guys?

Once I get this kit and a new oil drain plug, I'll be sending a couple of samples of the ULX-110 oil with 10k+ miles on it to get examined.

Should be interesting...

They e-mnailed me also, so I should be receiving this kit fairly soon also. Question. Bill why order this one when you are an Amsoil preferred customer? The amsoil kit is only like $13 or so??

Well, Shing and I were discussing this and he stated -->

that he would trust my results more if the same lab was used as the one that generated his results. So, as a point of reference and for this time only, I will be sending the ULX-110 oil samples to both Blackstone labs and Amsoil for analysis.

In addition, I purchased the Trigard protection plan, which is for Amsoil oil only. With this analysis, you send them an oil sample @1k and then a subsequent sample at either 12.5k when you change your filter or 25k/end of your desired oil interval. With this info, they are able to compare how/if the Amsoil 'broke down' in that mileage span.

I'm here to serve....

Hey sorry, missed this post...

kits are always free... you only pay for the actual test. Damn, I have some oil sitting on my desk for about 1 week, think it should still be ok, I hope anyways.

I think I heard from them from someone one this forum. Don't remember.

BTW those amsoil kits, are they sent to soem amsoil lab? I guess I like a "3rd party" lab but it's "indepenedent".

They are usually pretty fast about things. I mean as fast as USPS allows them to be. The season could be causing problems though. They are always usually pretty good about emails.

Jeff, we are not excluding yuo, maybe you are ignoring my posts?! I see how it is now... ;-)

Oh, did I tell you then sent me 6 more kits when I requested for more kits. They probably looked at how fast I went through the two samples and decided to send a lot. I think I went 8,600 milse in less than 4 months!

Not sure where the Amsoil kits are sent, but -->

I can tell you that the Trigard plan IS Amsoil-specific. I don't know if they use an 'independent' lab per se, but this set of analyses are for Amsoil oil only to show its 'breakdown' over the interval @1k and at the end.

However, none of the documentation elaborates on their 'standard' oil analysis kits which I ordered from them for the ULX-110 oil, so I'll try to actually look at one this evening and see where to send the kit to.

----

Hmmm....so you get the kits for free but pay the $18 for the analysis?

----

hehe....they probably think you run a taxicab service or something.....

Jeff, usually those places send both a written copy in the mail -->

and they will fax the results to you as well...

That should be fairly quick....

Re: Jeff, usually those places send both a written copy in the mail -->

They mail me my results. But I think they call you if there's somethign really wrong with the sample.

Yup, kits are free, you just pay the $18.50 to do the tests.
