Wind deflector? How about driving without shoes?

But seriously, the sunroof mechinism (sp?) must weigh qite a bit. If you are serious about weight you should get a max without one. Maybe you could rig it closed and remove the motor and other hardware.

Eric D. Wong seems to sware that muscle car insurence doesn't differ much from our cars given similer conditions. He said if he switched to a z28 camaro, insurence would only be like $300-400 more a year.

But seriously, do NOT get rid of your max, even if it is crippled by the FWD. It is beautiful and has beastly power. I mean...it's priceless taking your co-worker out to lunch and whooping a few "sports cars" on the way...all while your enjoying the luxury of the flagship sedan!

No ones mentioned replacing the front seats. My power leather seats aren't the lightest things around.

Last I read, the AMA said it was closer to 60% (but I agree that 95% look overweight because of how it's carried). They also say that being overweight is more hazardous to your health than smoking. Tobacco is heavily taxed because of health hazards (along with alcohol; sin tax). Why isn't fattening food heavily taxed now that tobacco isn't the biggest killer?
I use my Max as an everyday driver, and have grown quite fond of the little creature comforts (can't go without AC in Louisiana, radio is a must, etc...). I'd be careful taking metal off from the safety standpoint. Guess it all boils down to what you want, and what you are willing to endure. You could probably find some lighter seats (the weight of mine surprised me), CF hood, remove insulation, "excess" metal like the knee bolster(?), etc...

Anyone who really wants to remove all that stuff should either do it to an old max, or just start with a whole different model of car.

But seriously, a Maxima guy who goes by the handle 'Corvette' suggested you can lose almost 20 pounds by removing the four tow hook brackets under the car.

How bout you remove nothing at all. Attain all your goals withnear stock mass. If you want to go faster then just throw more HP at the problem. Thats what I am doing

Altough the last time I went to the track I had so little fuel in tha tank that the fuel light would come on every time I hit the brakes at the end of the track.
