what would you pay someone for a 95 max that has been beat on very badly and needs a tranny. also has no options but 5 speed. also possible over 150k miles on it

I'm assuming you're able to replace the tranny yourself or you wouldn't be asking, kinda like buying a 350,000 house for 170,000 because you can fix it up yourself and sell it for more. For that Max I'd proabably pay about $500, if they didn't go for it I'd up my offer to $1000. Any vehicle with a motor or tranny problem basically is a parts car and belongs in a yard, it'd be worth more parted out.

2-3k depending on the inspection. Not holding compression= bid deal to me. New MT , not a big deal to me
