Just had inaugural NOS run. Detailed analysis.

My car - 98 SE Auto.
What I got - NOS 5124 50 shot
Power mods I have - PRCAI,Ypipe,stock exhaust

Ok, I finished mounting the bottle brackets tonight at 2am and went out for the test drive. 50 shot is not gonna snap your neck, but the added power is definitely there and it is very detectable by the butt dyno. The RPM really does climb so much faster. The car is now able to actually ACCELERATE from 80mph on.. I couldnt belive it. For us auto 4th gens with a ypipe, you know that "sweet spot" beginning at 3000RPM, right? It is like that with nitrous too, but it begins at 80mph now! NOS is my top end only "ypipe". hehe

I always lost to my friend's 5th gen prelude, because when we race, his VTEC is doing good work when my power is beginning to drop. We would be about even to maybe 75mph, then he would start to walk me. We go up to about 110mph. I was VERY HAPPY with what my max does up to 60-80mph.. 4th gens have gobs of torque and pretty good power up to a point, but we dont have the VI.. I was hoping to replenish the TOP END power with the NOS, and it does just that. I am one happy camper right now.

I had to fight the temptation to slap on the NOS stickers that came with the kit. I dont have any stickers on my car because I wanna make it into a total sleeper, and had to keep it that way.

A friend of mine ordered a turbo kit for his 2000 accord coupe 5spd. I'm looking forward to see how my car will do against his.

I give mucho mucho thanks to the following people for helping me install my NOS safely. Some of these guy's fingers worked overtime when we were talking on aol instant messenger.

SR20DEN
JAIMECBR900
MARDIGRAS
ZMAN187 - (he kept saying "dont do it!! you're gonna die!")
SPRINTMAX. (his old posts that came up in the search were very valuable)

And oh, my favorite tool is now zip ties. If the ***** had zip ties, duck tape and velcro, they would have won WWII.

Very nice! You should take it to the track and see how well you can do. Definitely should be in the 14s even with a 50 shot.

OMG, just had my first race with the NOS!!!!
Against a Honda S2000. 50 shot is amazing!

ok, I'm coming back home to virginia, after hooking up with John at Maryland's Dave and Busters. John and I had a NOS joyride
Anyways, I see this black S2000 on 495. I give him the bait, and he bites it. Lane opens up, he moves over one lane to my right. We slow down a little , I engage my arming switch, and we're pacing about 65mph. We both punch it from there. Went up to somewhere between 115 and 120mph. The S2000 couldnt get past my B pillar. We were pretty even. Neither of us was gaining. I know the S2000 is a very very fast car, and he should have beaten me, but I learned that I have a very satisfactory top end now, so i'm happy.

I flash my hazards as a sign of good race, he acknowledges back. We roll the windows down, he waves to me and I give him the thumbs up. I know that he thought he was gonna walk me after 80mph.
He had no clue that my max was modded, or even had NOS. Oh man, this was a VERY VERY satisfying race.. I only had the NOS for 2 days now.

P.S.
John, on my way back home just now, I "learned" to spray my NOS beginning in 1st gear, from around 3000 RPM. Remember when we stopped in the middle of the road on our way back to the mall, and I engaged the NOS in 2nd gear? Oh my my.. spraying in the first gear is just SO MUCH faster... it is unbelievable. I've been in lots of low 15, high 14 quarter mile cars. My bro's car, friend's maxes, preludes, hondas and stuff, so I know the "feel" of the time slips, even though I've never been to the track. My max with the NOS is DEFINITELY a 14 second car..Hopefully low 14's.

I use to chirp 2nd N/A. When i went from a 50 shot to 100 shot, i spun all the way into third. I can only say this was possible b/c of Don's great craftsmanship in his VB's.

50 shot is def. something you can't really feel but again, watch the gauge and it climbs. Me & Mtrai did a post about how a 50 shot felt roughtly a year ago if not more. Enjoy the Nitrous, and use it within reason. Nitrous should not be used everyday - though it is very addicting.

try switching from CAI to Hybrid setup, in my experience, ive had the shot actually "kick" harder with a shorter intake setup than with the long cold air extension. Thats all based on butt dynos tho. Also a bottle warmer will definitely help with the "kickback" feel. Running a non warmed 50shot would kick in 1st gear, but with the bottle warmer, it would kick and almost cause traction loss in first gear.

oh my my. Bottle warmer makes that much of a difference? But my pressure was at 950 psi through out tonight, so I think I was getting enough pressure. but I am gonna get a bottle warmer soon.. just dont feel like installing ANYTHING in my car for couple weeks.. I need a rest after the NOS install. haha

wow...950psi w/o a bottle warmer and nighttime? You must've had a full bottle it must've been really warm out. On cool nights w/o a warmer (esp. w/o a full bottle), your bottle pressure will be A LOT less than 950psi. Bottle pressure makes a HUGE difference. Get a bottle warmer. IMHO, it's a must have. You'll find out why. =)

The bottle warmer is only a big deal on the smaller shots. If you get bigger nitrous jets to compensate for the low pressure you can save yourself some money. Thats how I can still make power on very low bottle.

Yeah, but you if you also got a bottle warmer and heated up your setup...hehehe =D My point is that for whatever shot you are running, bottle pressure makes a difference.
