New Ground Wires installed

I was a little bit skeptical aabout the whole ground wires thing, but my car isn't as smooth as it used to be so I thought I would give it a try, because it couldn't hurt. I bought 15ft of 4 guage battery wire, all the connectors, and a new battery post for under $30. The install was pretty easy, took about an hour. I am going to make no claims about power because I don't think I got any, but I did get some other gains. It is either a coincidence, or the wires do work. My car starts faster and easier, gas mileage is up a little (too early to tell), the bass of my one 10 inch sub is twice as loud, the headlights don't dim when the bass hits and they are brighter, my odometer started working again for some reason, my car even picks up radio stations better, and it idles lower. I don't know whether or not to attribute all of this to the wires, but I didn't change anything else. Make of this what you want, but I am happy.

Interesting. Where all did you ground your car? just the battery to the block? or did you ground other things as well?

I have 5 ground wires total, 4 new ones. I have 2 going to the engine (one new and the original), one off the lower firewall, one on the strut tower closest to the battery, and one on the other side of the engine near the horn mount bracket. I just guessed where to put them.

So did you ground specific electrical systems? or did you only ground the battery? I'm confused.

Sorry about that, All five of the wires are grounded to the battery. I was just doing what Kevin Wong had done to his car with the ground wires, I just decided to do it myself for $30 instead of buying some for $120.

I think you guys are on to something. A while back my battery died and I put in a new one, car cranked better, milage increased and ran smoother. I attributed it to new battery having higher voltage and more readily available current capacity. If you think about it our cars are truly eletronic with interacting electronic controls and anything that improves availabilty of voltage and current can help the car run better. I have been thinking of cleaning all ground connections that I can find. I bought a dremel tool and various size wire brush attachments. I'll post results once I get it done.
Be well!!!!

In the audio industry the "big 3" otherwise known as grounding the car will help your electrical system immensely

Not only the electrical system, but the performance too. Which of course, is all intertwined

I forgot to add that in there

Hey, just becareful when doing this. You can create grounding loops and screw stuff up. Remember a lot of the functions of your car depends on using the ground to turn them off and on. You create a grounding loop and you can short things out, without knowing.
