? about Power after Tranny swap...

I reacently had my auto swapped for a 5 speed in my 97 max. You all can see my mods in my sig. Im still running my auto ecu. I was playing around with a friend who has a modded 92 auto on the freeway.
What happend was we went at if from about 80 till about 100 or so. I stayed in fith while he was in 3rd. It was pretty even. No real change in distance between us. My question is..... Should I have been walking him at those speeds??? I wanna know if Im not making the power I should be. For the record I G-teched at 183 hp. Dose this sould like a problem???
Thanks for your help.
John.

umm you just compared your car in 5th versus someone elses mod'd maxima in 3rd... and are dissapointed...

maybe you'd pull away like crazy ,,, if you were in a viper or something where there is no need to downshift...

but race him 3rd gear vs 3rd gear and post again...

I know this... but here is the thing. This same auto says a stock 92 5 speed pulls like crazy in 5th from 75 up. And he is dissapointed that mine did not. I wouldnt think My car would in 5th. Even 4th and i know it would have been diffrent.

Yes in third it would of been different. But like he said a BONE STOCK VE 5 speed pulls me hard in 5th every time. Even on the roads from 35mph rolls and dead stops he doesnt pull me like the STOCK VE 5 speed does. I know he should be able to kill me atleast as bad as the VE kills me. Do you think it could be he is running the auto ecu? I would like to help him get his car in smoking condition as it should be. Do you think it is the pop charger? Or his 18's? all help is appreciated. I know fellow member shouldnt be racing, but sometimes it is a good test to see how well your max is running.

Want more input? You suck . I mean leaving the car in 5th gear boooooooohh, you should have hit 4th and walked that ****. Let someone in a VQ 5spd do a 5th gear roll at 70-80mph against me in the se-r. That would be a quick way to get tail lights.

The auto ECU is NOT the reason. Actaully, Harold dyno'ed, and gained 1.5HP/TQ from it over the manual ECU. Weither this is accurate or not is beside the point..the point is the auto ECU will not perform any worse then a manual ECU.

Well to let you guys know. I had the O/D on with a an extra passenger whom is fairly large at 275lbs. Not to mention the crap in the trunk. I had a car load with O/D on I dont know what gear I was in, but it was climbing slower than usual. There must be something up with his car, even at 35mph rolls it was pretty close.

No it has to be something more.. You need to get the car dynoed and see.. I suspect it is a maint. issue or a mod is holding him back at those speeds.
Harold also has a converted 5 speed and he is dynoing well you need to compare results w/ him and Craig mack who also is modded

I dont think weight played a factor in this run. I too had a passenger, heavy 18's two 12" subs, two amps, and loads of other stuff... and as far as other races being close.. 35mph roll was close.. but from standing start i had a good 3-4 cars after being a car or so down while spining off the line. I know my car is faster than a stock 99 5 speed. Ill just have to dyno and see whats really going on. By the way I just g-teched a 1/4 mile at 14.9 and 14.7. I Know these arnt the best or most accruate #'s but they make me think that the power is there.... Anyone else think this???

Get rid of those heavy 18's and go to a light weight 17" and I bet you will see a few tenths shaved off your ET and ~1-2mph's.
