morning idleing problem help!!!!!
ok so i searched through the search function and i was unable to find a problem similar to mine.
i have a 99.5 se-l with like 93 k miles. this started happening after the fpr install. none of the lines are chrimped and im running 38 psi at idle.
the conditions which allow this to happen are
fuel tanks is at 1/4 or less
when i start my car in the morning to warm it up
i go to start the car and i let it idle. about a minute or so after. my car has a mind of its own and it just starts reving by itself. it will rev up to about 2k then drop back to 1k then rev up to 2k again then drop down. the idle will yoyo back and forth like this a few more times then it will even out. the whole time im standing out side having a ciggerette wondering WTF!!!!!!!!!
does anyone know what this could be. i cleaned my TB after the first time it has happened.
thanks
please help

Whoa, I thought that was a problem specific to hondas In my family we called that the "phantom accord idle". I was too young to remember what my dad did on my 85 accord to fix it...but I remember he replaced a small inexpensive ($10) part.
maybe search and read up on idle air control valve? Wish I could say more

Who knows, but these may help:
IACV (idle air control valve):
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....t=erratic+idle
How to clean it:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....highlight=iacv
You could check the fast idle control solenoid:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....t=erratic+idle
You probabaly should research more in-depth with these search results for "IACV" in the 4th gen forum:
http://forums.maxima.org/search.php?...der=descending
In addition, I would first check for any codes in the ECU, as members reported not having a check engine light on despite idle problems and a code stored:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=104931
With those results, you can then search for the 4 digit code and you could see what else could be causing your issues.

If you don't mind, update us with what you find out, and I'll move it over to the 4th gen forum.
Also, you may not be able to read you ECU as around the time your car was made, Nissan switched ECUs on the late 99 models to the 2k models. It's not possible to read the codes yourself in the scenario/links given above.

The diagnostic code you get will be a Pxxxx using the scan tool. When you pull the codes "manually" you get a DTC xxxx. So if you search any around here, you aren't likely to find info about the scan tool code. The Haynes manual has a chart that explains what a Pxxxx scan tool code is comparted to the DTC xxxx diagnostic code.
Since you're at a dealer, all this babble above is probably moot.
I'm ignorant of the "re-programming", but I'm vaguely aware it's possible on 5th gens.
