[quote]3. You will have to remove the valve cover to get to the front spark plugs, the valve cover is secured by 4 hex screws and can be seen on the graphic to the right with red dots in them.[quote]

The valve covers are not removed to access spark plugs. The part you are removing is only an access cover for the front coil packs & spark plugs.

I think most on here know what your refering to, but you should use the correct terminology.

Re: Re: SparkPlug Write Up: Enjoy

You should tell everyone to make sure the spark plug gap is only 14 mm. Two of my NGK platinums was not exactly 14 mm gap and needed to be corrected.

exactly what I was looking for, just in time for the 120k tune up. As far as I know, this is the first write up of anykind for the spark plugs. I've been hesistant to do my spark plugs because I heard one plug is very hard to get to, but armed with sprint's write up, i'm gonna change my plugs. thank you.

If it runs fine then don't worry about it. I was just very careful added the anti-seize, checked the gap, torqued them to 16 pounds etc...

if you put in Platinum Plugs they are pregapped.. you don't need to gap them.. these coppers are also pregapped funny enough.. when you see the -11 means they are pregapped for us..

Yeah, the other thread in the 4th gen forum reminded me that in the past you stated yours weren't pre-gapped when the ones I ordered a couple of months back were.

The "-11" is a multiplier by .004 and is part of the naming convention for NGK plugs. So -11 = .044 gap.

Re: Re: Re: Re: SparkPlug Write Up: Enjoy

Platinum's are the lazy man's plug. They last 2x as long as copper, whereas copper will die out sooner, but provide a better spark. I've been doing some sparkplug shopping today and the platinums are a little higher in price as well.

Sprint -- your writeup is very well detailed, if there was ever a need for "changing your sparkplugs for dummies", you explained it perfectly. Definately a link I'm going to send to my friend who's attempting his first service himself.

Like hell the stock gap is 14mm. That's 1.4cm, or about .55 inches. There is NO WAY that is right. I hope that was simply a typo, because that would just defy logic.
