OT...but need some opinions TONIGHT pls.

Ok....buying the wife a wagon, choices are volvo V70 or A6 avant.

What Ive found.....

2000 A6 Avant
2.8 quattro
45000 miles
Loaded, leather, 4 heated seats, HID's, bose, navigation....the works guys....BTW..new tires Its the Dark blue metallic color.

$25,000.....good deal or no. I have researched Kbb and edmunds, and it seems to be an average deal.

What do you guys and gals think?? Are there any issues with these I need to know about?

Thanks in advance.

Buy an M-coupe and say its a mini wagon...

Avant sounds good. She not intrested in speed huh?? Well, Volvo makes really safe cars... They like tanks and wagon wise... V70 aint that bad. I personally would go with the avant.

The A6 is definitely the car I would go with but I'm not good with the prices on those - try www.edmunds.com www.kbb.com and www.carpoint.msn.com .

Get a Volvo V70 T5 5spd and chip the sucka(ipdusa.com) Statistacly the volvo is going to hold up a lot longer then the Audi. I say test drive both cars and then decide, I've never driven an audi so..

Get the Audi- those are really beautiful cars. The Volvos are nice, but they lack the appeal to me.

Thanks a lot guys......

"Mini" M is too small.

540i....no enough bling bling.

I do like the looks of the audi better than the volvo. It also has A LOT more thingies...nav, heated seats...etc.

Emax...Its for the wifey....so speed is not that important.

The biggest thing is the volvo's are running about 5k cheaper than the audi with lower miles. I guess I was just curious about the reliablilty of the audi vs the volvo....especially at higher miles.

Thanks for all the help, I posted a question at vwvortex and got NOTHING....you guys are grrrrreat.

If you're buying for looks have the wife choose. It'll be her car anyway.

If reliability is the concern, the volvo is the hands-down winner. Volvos regularly make it in to the hundreds of thousands of miles with minimal repair.

Has Volvo fixed the squeeky brake problems yet? We used to have two and the brakes squeeked like crazy. I guess it's just normal on Volvo's because I hear it on other people's cars too. Go with the Audi.

Have you seen the Jetta wagon? It looks pretty cool with the sport package on it and it only runs like $25k new. 180hp 180tq 1.8T and you can get it with a 5speed Tiptronic Tranny.

Well I did it......

I got the A6

All I gotta say is ....wow.

THis thing has nicer interior than my max. (mine is leather and loaded) The bose in the audi HANDS DOWN kicks my max's ****.

The 2.8 engine....well its not 1/2 as powerful as the max. but i dont care, the wife will be driving it.

THe HID's are very good too., and I can tell that the quattro is a parasite on H.P.

All in all, i got a good deal....I think. All the volvos I looked at they wanted around 21000 to 23000 for a 99 with 36-40K miles. I went to Kbb.com and the "trade in" value for this type of car was only 17.000. I got the 2000 audi...(a year better) for 23000, and kbb ranks its trade in value at $23550. Sooooo i am very pleased.

Thanks again for the help guys......

congtrats on the Audi... it'll be fun

sweetsound... how did you mod an XC 70 to have a T5 engine? The T5 is the high pressure turbo with 247hp. Do you have the original engine/turbo? If so, it's not a T5 (according to Volvo).
