possible to powdercoat ehaust can / tip?

Is it possible to powercoat my exhaust can and tip?

I have the Greddy cat back SP. About two months ago someone threw acid on the rear of my car right in front of my house, they also managed to take the time to go under the car and toss acid all over the exhaust can / tip. Well I drove to work that morning and didnt notice the acid on the back, the car sat in the sun all day long and when I got home that evening I walked back to the trunk and saw the damage. The paint was bubbled up and the exhaust was discolored. I washed everything off and the next day bought some polish for the exhaust to see if the discoloring would change. No Luck.

About 1 week later I took it to a rim repair shop and the guy said he would try and polish it for me. He did a small area with a high speed buffer and green rouge polish. The area that he did still was discolored. He said with time and effort it might come off. He said he would charge me from anywhere around $50-100-150 to clean everything up depending on the amount of hours he had to put into it. I asked him if I should just try and do it myself since I have access to air tools at my shop.

I bought the buffing pad and green rouge polish and spent 4 hours going over and over on the damaged areas. No luck.

This is why I want to know if you can powdercoat the exhaust?

Maybe the same color of my car?

Will the powdercoat come of due to the extreme heat?

Is this a rice / ghetto mod?

You feed back is appreciated!

Thanks,

One

I should think it shouldn't be a problem as TT.net members have powdercoated their brake calipers, pelnums, and valve covers.. all these have high heat temperatures. I would think the exhaust gets hot but weather or not it's hotter than engine or caliper paint's is beyond me.
Possibility of ideas is to somehow get a temp/heat gun of some sort that can measure these temperatures to see the difference.... Simpler enough, ask the place that's doing your powerdercoating what temperature it can handle.
goog luck

Yes you can powdercoat it any color you want most powdercoats are good to 300-350.Im currently powdercoating my brothers headers with high temp powder which is good to almost 600 after it cures properly.Depending on its size I could do it for about 80-85 bucks. If your interested Email me at hoodank78@netscape.net

You probably can powder coat just about anything. They sandblast to a rough finish and powder coat and bake the item. Look at my sig that's all powder coated. It will take the temp.
