I don't really understand. Did you install a 5th gen resonator that goes below the battery? Or is it the piece that is between the MAF and the throttle body? If it works, cool...I think I'll join on that. I'd just like to know what exactly I'd need.

i replaced that peice with a 5th gen one, now the big black peice/box is smaller.

From now on whenever I think my engine bay is dirty, I'm going to take a look at costcowholesale's engine bay pic so I won't feel as bad.

more butt dynos? take it to the track with and without or whatever. You saying it is faster means nothing. Aside from that, if he doesn't want to clean his engine bay, who cares? It's his perogative heh. Maybe he has more fun things to do lol.

Or you could get off your lazy @ss and take 20 minutes to make it clean yourself.

1. Cover intake and battery.
2. Spray GUNK Engine Brite over everything (use the whole can on that mess you got there). Wait 30 minutes.
3. Wash thoroughly.
4. Do again. With 5 more cans.
5. Dry engine bay a little.
6. Remove cover of intake and battery.
7. Voila a cleaner engine bay.

I'll keep my eyes open. Once you clean it your engine will run smoother in your head because you will see the gallons of guck wash out from underneath.

where you get that GUNK stuff? I have some other stuff, but I have to take a brush to the manifold and the header part..

Also, make sure you cover the alternator, dont want stuff in there.

My comp. froze as I was replying and I see you kids already replyed. Well this is what you do:

Go down to a local car washing place. I have a place around me with pressure washing huts. Drive into one, put a buck into the machine and you get like 5 minutes of pressure washing and soaping. Just mask off the intake and spray away. It is a gentle pressure but it got mine VERY clean.

Not bad for a 7 1/2 year old engine bay eh?

I bought it from AutoZone but I'd be surprised if Advanced AutoParts or even Wal-Mart didn't have it. It's a very general product most places carry. Works well though, just remember to let it sit for a while (oh and it smeels really bad ). We cleaned my friend's engine bay which had not been cleaned in 14 years with this stuff. This is how it turned out:

The washer fluid tank was stained but if you look at the engine itself and the strut towers, they have very little dirt on them for a car with 170k miles.

i remember costcowholesale saying once that someone made a mistake and all that stuff in his engine bay is caked on, and won't come off.

am i right?

So your a$$ is only calibrated to measure low-end power?

I still dont understand how the 5th gen resonator makes any difference.

the low end difference is pretty obvious... not sure about high end... i don't drive @ 4k + that often

now going up hill i can coast @ 1500rpm & still pick up speed, before that i couldn't.

I guess the extra restriction created by the resonator results in less plumbing loss's as less are is inhaled during low rpm driving

I have an Intake that NO 5th gen has
