SC Install Problem #3294023942. *rant*
Despite the titling, I haven't technically even begun the SC install. I crawled under the car this morning after a short drive to drain the oil. The oil drain plug seemed pretty damn tight and I thought "wtf, dealership musta used the fuggin' air tools on this thing". Needless to say, acouple of yanks later, it started to turn.
And turn.
And turn....
And turn........ It wouldn't come loose. They put the damn thing on so tight, it stripped the threads on the first turn! This is the third or fourth weekend I've sat aside to do this, and with university paperwork piling up high, it's probably the last oppertunity I'm going to have to do it. I'm probably going to have to wind up paying someone to if I want it done before next summer
Needless to say, I'm probably going to have to swap the whole oilpan. I went straight to the dealership and gave them the "Which retard mechanic thought it'd be fun to tighten a 22lb/ft bolt to 100lb/ft?" attitude, which had them saying "maybe you didn't turn the bolt properly."
Needless to say, I know how to turn a freakin' bolt. After looking at it, they quoted me around $300 to repair it, and said they couldn't do it this weekend. Am I liable for this damage? They said that it may have been caused because of rust INSIDE my oil pan. If I had rust inside the freakin' pan, I would have expected them to tell me that when they drained the oil last. Either that, or I would have expected my entire engine to choke up. To me it looks like some stupid mechanic went a bit ape on tightning a bolt, I stripped it, and now they're trying to look like it was my fault and not theirs. Am I totally screwed in this matter, or will enough hassling and arguing get my stuff replaced that obviously wouldn't have been replaced if I had done the original oil change myself?
Cliff notes: Round SC install step #5 - Oil drain plug broke - Took to dealership and asked who the renegade mechanic with the airtools was - Dealership blames me - Weekend installing SC goes down ****ter.
And the question: Think the dealership is just gonna screw me on this? Better to buy a oil pan, plug, gasket and fix it myself, right?
And turn.

Do you have the receipt from the last oil change from the dealership... write nissan-usa... It's worth a try... how can you get rust from the inside... what did they use for oil... water?
Cliff's notes....CLASSIC!
There is no way to prove the dealership did it, so you are essentially screwed. You can take it up the chain of command, but I doubt they would do anything, especially since the busted bolt is in your hands.....

Actually the busted bolt is still in the oil pan. I never got around to draining the oil. If it HAD come off, I would have completed the majority of the install, and let the car sit until I could get a new pan (or just a new plug, I haven't seen the severity of the strippage.)
Looks like two "yeah, Nissan won't do anythings", and I tend to agree with them. Nissan oilpan looks like it's nearly $100US, in conjunction with a gasket and plug, that's a pretty heafty oopsie, considering there's a lot of other stupid things that could happen (and knowing my luck ...
) Is there any easy way I can get the drain plug out of there? That way I can see if the pan is leaking oil with a new plug, and then decide wether the actual pan needs replacing too?
I could have the dealership test that, but not only is it a chunk of cash for the oil & labour, you know how dealerships are. "Your oil pan broke off the entire car, hit the floor, bounced up, hit the transmission, and now you need an entire transmission rebuild." .. Bluh.
