I need a used or broken tranny! $$$

I'm new to this board, and so far I have found a great site with plenty of members and support. Perhaps someone out there can help me out with this request of mine.

I need an RE4F04V transmission (automatic with VLSD) with a single-spline driveshaft, in any condition. Used, high mileage, low mileage, new, broken, worn out, it doesn't matter. I will be rebuilding it anyways. The transmission can be found in very few '94's, most '95's, and almost all '96's and above.

If you are in the Houston, Texas area, I would greatly appreciate your help in obtaining one. If you still have a warranty with Nissan on your car, and you have the right tranny, I am willing to "replace" your existing tranny with a new Nissan tranny from the dealership. I will just need some info from you, your warranty info, and other details, but if you're interested, we can talk about it in much greater detail.

Why do I need such a specific transmission? Well, my car is not running well right now, due to worn bands and plates in the transmission and because, after extensive research, I have found that my transmission, also a RE4F04V (but double-spline) can be replaced by the same transmission of the single-spline variety. What car is this going into? A 1993 ALTIMA GXE. That is correct. The little brother of your Maxima has the same transmission, complete with VLSD. Why do I need the single-spline setup? Because it is much stronger and has one less location to break, plus will be able to handle all the power and abuse I intend on dishing out to it.

So what do you say? Are you up for it? Do you need a new transmission? Help me help you. You can assist me in reaching my performance goals for my car, and if I get into a magazine with it, your name will be mentioned as well in the props.

Thanks for your time, and I hope to hear from any one of you!

I believe all Canadian Maximas have the RE4F04V, but almost all American spec cars don't. You may have a little luck in the "for sale" forum here. There are a few guys converting over to 5-speeds and have their autos for sale.

Another place to look is http://www.car-part.com

It is a nation-wide salvage yard network.

Good Luck
