just got car back with act installed....
those of you that have it.... did you feel like an idiot when you first drove it? (i killed it because i didnt expect it to engage so damn quickly )
how far does everyone have to push down their pedal? i have to push mine almost all the way down to completely disengage the clutch but it does feel shorter than the stock clutch did. so far ive got 40 miles on the break-in but i did kinda get on it once to get a second gear scratch (which was kinda weak?) overall impressions: hooray for no clutch slippage!

mines is fully broken in and it feels so good to drive it. The clutch pedal is a lot stiffer than most manuals ive driven but it like guides you to shift faster. If you on a high rpm on first and u lightly take your foot off of clutch it like forces my foot up and kind of helps pull the shifter to second IMO. When i drive at low rpm's to shift from first to second, i feel nothing much from the clutch pedal and shifting assistance is a lot lighter. I know i may sound crazy when i say this but:
Speed up from start until you get to like 4.5 rpm or so and try to change gears and TELL ME U DONT FEEL SOMETHING DIFFERENT COMPARED TO WHEN you shift at lower rpm's. there's a difference all right.
and my friends thought i was such a wack driver when i was bumping up and down the streets. dam those days.....

it cost me $399.87 for the clutch install+throw out bearing. they were gonna resurface my flywheel but they said it couldn't be done and i needed a new one but i didnt have the money so they guy said he touched it up best he could and everything so far is fine! no clutch chatter or anything! i have one question.....my friend has a spec-v and he get MAD second gear scratches, now granted i only tried once..... shouldn't i get a pretty decent scratch now? especially with an ACT clutch? maybe it just needs to be broken in more....

Go easy on it, when it's broken in let her rip. I know it's hard, but you must resist all temptation to floor it!

so i'm not alone.... ok ok i'll go easy on it for as long as i can.....i put 70 miles on it today; gotta get it broken in by this weekend if i can.Trevor
Man, I remember when my ACT clutch set was installed and I went to pick it up from the shop. So I got in my Max, starting it up and it seemed fine at that point. Then I put my foot on the clutch to switch into first gear, my wheels were spinning like I was trying to gun it and I was barely touching the gas. But I love My Act, no doubt!!!!

and go easy on the clutch for the first 1k miles. after that let it rip and i guarantee you will be chirping 3rd.

After having the JWT Stage II in the car and now I have the ACT in it, the ACT grabs much harder than the JWT did. The JWT felt "stock", if I can say that. But it also let me chirp second and third as well. Now with the ACT in there, it does the same thing. When I first had the ACT installed and I drove it out the lot, I stalled it twice because it is so different from the JWT. But, after having just finished the intital break-in on it, it chirps second and third like my JWT did. But, for that first week, it was like having to learn how to drive a stick again. I got laughed at so many times by the "significant other" (my girlfriend). I didn't find it too funny when I stalled it.....

I had 1K on my clutch in the first week I had it, but I could tell it still wasn't broken in. Make sure that you do a lot of in town driving with it, It needs the engagements/disengagements to be broken in properly. I knew mine was finally broken in after sitting in stop and go traffic in the bay area for an hour and a half and only traveled 5 miles. When I could go again 1st gear was like butter and any potential problems I thought I had with it were gone.
