what would be the widest tire i could safely fit on a 18x7.5 ?

do i need x8 for 245's ?

According to what people have used, or tire manufacturer's spec?

Spec says 225/40/18 is maximum, but many here have used 235/40/18.

 

I used 225/40 on my 18x7.5

 

my 245/45/17 Falken Azenis look big on my 17x8, but they work.
you might be able to get away with 235 but definently not 245.

18 x 7.5 225 looks thin or 235 preferred

18 x 8 235 looks ok or 245 preferred

I tried all of the above.

What options would I have on a 17x9 rim? and can we fit it without rub when turning front wheels

I checked discounttiredirect.com and it says 235

 

i use kuhmo ecsta 712 235/40/ZR18's on my 18x8 snipers and those are the best tire size i could fathom putting on these wheels.

 

My 235-40s look perfect on my 17x7.5... no sidewall slanting in or outward. Sidewalls are vertical.

 

I love these tires.
The even do very well in the rain.
After I put them on I ran my friends supercharged prelude and only lost by 1/2 car till 90.
I plan on taking my car to the track on friday. I dont see any reason for me not to pull consistent 2.1 60fts
Also if you get these, keep in mind that are HUGE for a 245. They measure out to be near 255's.
