Ram air scoop Pics

After having a CAI and switching to Hybrid, I Ended up with a Hole in my fender so I decided to make an air scoop to make use of that hole and to draw some extra air so I went out and bought a 6"- 3" cone made for air duct for buildings and also picked up 3 feet of 3" Kevlar wraped flex tubing. It seems to work good from testing it with a fan. here are some pics.

cant really tell since I havent gone out much and plus I dont think its going to be noticable enough to feel anything other than maybe cool the incomming air faster than it normally would or maybe shorten the low end lag quicker

Warning, If water gets in there and in your motor. You will cause a nasty hydro lock. It's happened before.

No, water will not get up there. Its not a CAI and its NOT connected to the intake itself, its just an air scoop to draw air to the intake

Re: Ram air scoop Pics

hiroshi actually built a mini-compression chamber for his CAI filter that he had down in the fender wall. he basically created an air tunnel that awas sealed with a forced entry from the fog hole into a chamber, with the stillen intake down in the fender wall..

he noticed a few more CFM into the intake that he grabbed from his SAFC readings for AFL.

Any idea on how it was done? what kind of material was it made of?

Amazing idea....and looks like it helps too! Just a minor suggestion - maybe you might wanna try to put a mesh grille or something to guard the entryway of the tube (@ the dog neck thingy) just in case a rock or some other object gets in the tubing

yea I was going to do that but I didnt have time to look for anything so I left it out. I was thinking about getting some mesh from a screen door or maybe use the mesh from a kitchen strainer.

you can't go wrong w/ a home depot grill... if you don't know what you're lookin for, just go to the gutter section and look for gutter guard... it's only a couple of bucks and it comes in 48x10" strips... cheap, easy and effective... but it look GOOD... great idea

Great job thats very industrious. I was thinking of somthing similar to feed a pop charger, that would be a true hybrid intake.
