1) True

2) False - Sure it will, that's like a body part it needs and uses, it's functional too

3) True and False - Evo costs more $$ than the WRX..but the STi is around the same price. You can't compare a WRX and an EVO. It has to be the EVO and the STi. Comparing the WRX & the EVO is like comparing the Altima to the TL-S.

I love how peple can bash it just for not being a Max.

Yes I remember reading a mag article (which supposedly have no merit here) about the 2k2 Max. They pretty much bashed it, while even acclaiming the WRX. A few pages before the Max review, they had a long-term wrap-up saying how much they loved the Max.
I'll have to find them.

Everybody knows that looks are subjective and that the Maxima has been knocked so many times for its looks too.

Oh well...I'm wasting my breath.

Yes I am biased...after driving a friend's WRX, I've decided I need one.

2. i remember that gm use to tone down the size of the scoops on camaros for liabiltiy reasons, go figure.

3. true the evo will be around 30,000. cant wait to see the sti and evo battle it out here in the states.

i like the evo becasue it looks a little bigger than the subaru.

I remember reading that SOA is bound to offend the current WRX cult by restyling the car so soon.

The bug-eyes give it some distinction.

Only the WRX cult in the U.S. The rest of the world hates the bug eyes. Sales were down, hence the reason for the redesigned headlights.

No sir. Check our the i-club.com forums.
This is the new 2004 WRX.
Your best option is the 2004 WRX STi. or the Lancer EVO VIII

I don't like either the WRX or the Mistu EVO...they are both small, ugly, and have turbo 4s.....I can't STAND 4cylinder motors..turbo or non-turbo....just my .02

It looks better than the 2001 WRX, but the 2.5RS Imprezza of before still is gorgeous compared to any of these newer models. That over-sized rear wing was killer, too. Too bad the US couldn't get a hihgh powered motor in those bodies.

I wonder how easy it is to retrofit a 2001 WRX motor into a previous gen Imprezza. As easy as Hondas?? That would be way cool for the suuby crowd.

There were no 2001 WRX's sold in North America. It started with MY02. I also loved the 1st generation WRX's more than the 2nd gens.

Here's a picture you may enjoy.

I'm confused because they call it the 2003 WRC WRX and Subaru refers to the restyled WRX as a mid-2003 model.

IMO, screw the EVO VIII. It lacks the "shoulders" and stance of the WRX. I've heard numerous rumors that the EVO VIII that's coming to the States will only be pushing 250hp and it weighs more than the WRX. I've also read the EVO VIII was getting it's bell rung by the STI. As for engineering and organized racing, I watch the WRC often and I never see the EVOs being very competitive and like most Mitsu's, they're cursed with mechanical problems and breakdowns. The EVO's medicore racing program does little for their street EVO, IMO.

Only 250 hp? I am sure they will have more than that to compete with the 350z, rx8, etc. Even if they don't, did you forget the factory turbo? That will be easily tuned.

Not being very competitive? A couple years ago when Tommy Makinen was on the team, they were awesome!

Also, an EVO would kill a WRX. I am a Subaru fan but you have to give it to them. When the STi comes, then it will be evenly matched. It's like a 2k2/2k3 Maxima vs. the TL-S. If you have the money, go with the STi (since it will cost a little more), if you are a little short or like the EVO better, go with that car since it will have very similar performance.

250hp sounds pretty reasonable because of the modifications done to the US-spec EVO to meet US crash regs. Apparantly the large front mount intercooler will not be in the US-EVO VIII therefore forcing the use of a small intercooler placed in the fender. This change alone could be responsible for a lower output. I'll have to big up the article, but I swear I read that the British spec EVO VIII only has 253hp and that's the model we're getting. That EVO VIII was getting beat badly by the STi.

As for the STi, that would be an awesome car to have, but I prefer to modify my cars and personalize them. Changing the suspension and adding engine enhancing mods seems pointless on an STi because of it's "tuned" packaging. It's like modifiying an ITR, the version you get from the factory is very hard to improve upon and usually ends up performing worse than it did stock.

ok the 2003 WRX is the same as the 2002! and dont argue b/c it is! The WRC is the Rally car, prob not sold in the US, ever, that new body design is for 04 or 05 not 03! The car in the first link of this post is a WRC and it only has Projector HIDs, headlights u can buy after market for a normal WRX. The 2001 Impreza is the best body style IMO. But its still a Subaru

Hmmmmm, I'm arguing with you because you're wrong. Taken straight from the www.rexilla.com:

Even so, the controversial styling of the car, called "bug-eyed" by a lot of critics, led to a slow start to sales of the latest Impreza and widespread criticism of the WRX.

The changes for the 2003 Impreza will focus on the headlamps and pinched-in rear end, with Japanese sources pointing to a totally new nose.

"It's commensurate with a mid-model facelift," Senior says.

you guys are posting different arguements. I think what Dave is saying is that that Subaru picture is the 2003.5 He isn't claiming it's the 2003.

By the way, if you have ever looked around at i-club.com they really don't trust rexilla. I have read threads saying they photoshop images. Until Subaru Of America releases information I won't believe it. Just try a search at their forums.
