Why is J&S Safeguard needed?

Why is the J&S Safeguard needed? Is it because the stock knock sensor and ECU do not retard the timing enough to prevent detonation in highly boosted cars? Does the Safeguard provide extra timing retard?

with direct igntion on our cars.. its hard to find an aftermarket product that will retard the timing on our cars to run more hp without detonation..

our only guess right now is to run colder plugs and hope and pray.. or go with a JWT modified ECU.. but not all our cars can use the JWT ECU.. so the J&S is the next best thign for tunability

Side Note:

not to say JJW didn't deserve that car.. but it seems that he only had the car based on it just being boosted.. and the power when and whatever..

its really nice to see the car has found a "TRUE" Enthusiast and i say this with the light of maybe beign flamed.. but the questions i see you ask and the interest you put into products and the car.. i am really glad someone has the car to bring it to his full potential.. i think Jim went to Etown more than i did and that car never saw the Starting Tree.

nice to see the car has found a good home.. keep it up
