MIRROR SHINE! on a Maxima

Ive been looking around at some of the cars you guys have and the pictures you take of them..Excellent job! My question is what do you guys do to the paint to make it look so flawless. What wax products and procedures should I take to make it look like so? Should I take to have it waxed? Should I do it myself? How many coats? What brand? Do I need to buy a machine to get the gloss out?

Thanks..Looking forward to a shiny car

Zaino my man. Go to Zainobros.com. They are one of the biggest suppliers to show cars. Can't go wrong. Any others here use Zaino, check in.

obviously cant tell by this sig pic, the camera is crap

But i use Meguiars 3 step about 2-3 times a year. Once this runs out i may try Zaino. Im verrrrry picky especially on a black car i was still outside finishing up at 10pm going all around the car holding a flashlight to the paint checking for every little swirl. Not EVERY little swirl was gone, but it still looked like that "glassy shine"

If you are picky, definitely try Zaino. It looks incredible on black and it will get rid of swirl marks. It's a bit pricey, it works out to be about $25 per application, but it is good for 6 months with a occasional spritz of the gloss enhancer. Those show guys must know something.

I use Mothers California Gold carwash and clay bar. I was so happy the other day when I made a scratch just disappear from clay barring it.

i also use Zaino but it's kinda hard to put on. it's very very easy to take off. i never got to put 2 coats on the car.

i'm looking for a wax i used to have 3yrs ago. i forgot the name of the wax. it was mint green in color and you had to pump the bottle to spray it on. it was a cleaner, wax & swirl remover all in 1. it went on like water and came off faster than Zaino. at that time it was about $25 for a bottle. i did my RX7 3 times in 4hr. that was the best wax i had ever used. i wish i could find it again.

ZAINO!!

That is with 3 coats of Z on. I got everything I needed for $70. But it is all about surface preparation. You HAVE TO CLAY IT, before you use it.

Go here ----> www.autopia.org for all the info you will ever need for detailing a car.

I'd say Zaino. If you get everything, the initial cost is very high (I paid about $70), but it's worth every penny - both the bottles and the shine last a long time. It's a synthetic wax rather than a natural one (like carnauba), so it does not fade with repeated washings and lasts quite a bit. However, if you are like a lot of us then you will become so addicted to the shine that you will wax it often anyway, even when you don't need it, as every coat you put on adds to the shine.

$25 per application? I hope that's a typo or you are wasting a lot of fluid. Each 8 ounce bottle of polish lasts for at least 16 coats (I used to get closer to 25, but with ZFX I apply it heavier now). Assuming that the carwash (Z7), gloss enhancer (Z6), and ZFX also last for 16 washes/applications, it's still only $3 an application.

Zaino is easy to put on and even easier to take off.

$25 per application is 3 coats of #2 and the same for #5 plus squirts of the gloss enhancer between each coat. It is very addictive, once you see how each coat makes it look, you want to keep going.

I'm only busting your chops. BTW Zymol is another one I used to use also. It used to be good until they sold out. At one point it was a very good wax, just a little too much residue.

i use Klasse. seems a little easier than the zaino application, and a lot of other detailers, like prinz, use it. make sure you have a good clean paintsurface before applying whatever you decide to use. i think that that is the most important part.

3M has good paint prep and paint cleanup products.

Thanks for the segue, victor. The key to having that kind of finish on your Max is surface preparation. You will need a polish (e.g. Klasse All In One), Swirl Mark Remover (e.g. 3M or Meguiar's 2.0, or my soon to be new acquisition (Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish)), Clay (ClayMagic is my personal fave).

Does it take a while? At first, it will. But when you do it more often, you will become more efficient.

no problem dude.

regarding the first time taking a while, i want to add that the first time will take longer because the paint will have more build-up. after that with the quality wax that you get (i take it you will be going with zaino) less contaminents will build-up, so it'll be a lot easier there after.

victor.
