Slipping SC belt

After I put back on my Stillen idler pulley my belt starts to slip. I tighten it up a bit more and it went away. Now when I'm sitting at a light the stupid belt starts to squeal. Again I tighten it up and it goes away. Then when I pull into the parking lot at work it did it again.
Anybody using Dayton belts? They look way different than the Gates in that the V grooves aren't as deep and it has notches perpendicular to the grooves. Btw is anybody using the kevlar belts?

BlackCat : I just got my blower installed (V2) a week ago and I start to hear this rattling/knocking noise at low rpm @ all gear excpet it gets quieter at P and N. It's very loud at R and sound like knocking a can with a metal rod. Also I put my hand on the blower and I felt more vibration at R than any other gear. But once I got her rolling, it starts to go away. Does this sound like the problem u had? I too have DanNY's aluminum pulley.

DanNY : I got the pulleys from Y2KevSE and hopefully I will be able to find the cause.

thx

8 seconds was the fastest one as I've previously mentioned.

woah woah..hold the phone here.
don't blame the pullies because that's the easy way out.

i believe the common denominator here is the V2 unit..there are others out there that have problems with them (SC unit) that do not have my pullies.

so do not jump into conclusion.
this is the #1 reason i stopped making them.

I would still find it a bit humorous even if my name was attached to it. New Yorkers...

I HIGHLY doubt the pulleys are making the weird noise. Let's not point fingers at Dan's stuff. I installed the SC on [maxi-overdose]'s car and I guarantee that the noise is not from the pulleys.

Was maxi-overdose's kit bought new or used?

Btw I never said that the noise was coming from the idler.

good job on the edit....but what's said was said.
but business is business i will still honor our agreement. call me what u want...blame the pullies all u want. but i will stand by my words in getting yours fixed even if they are not the blame (just to rule them out), but that's about as far as i'm going to go.

I agree, the Goodyear Gatorback belt is very good. I got to be honest, I was skeptical at first. However, I have no problems with the belt ever since I installed the SC.

He has my SC... pulleys and everything. No weird noises came from my car with the SC... but surfaced when installed on his car.

Update on DanNY's pulleys

After having everything put together for a few brief hours Sunday night I have to say that DanNY's pulleys were indeed quiet. I can only presume that the blower bearing noise at the very beginning changed slightly due to the tension of the belt after swapping back in the Stillen tensioner pulley.

On a side note I took another look at the melting signs on the Stillen pulleys. While taking a breather taking the pulleys out I compared both sets. I then took my flat head screwdriver out and lo and behold the melted bits came off! The Stillen pulleys were still in good shape! Nevertheless, I'm putting DanNY's pulleys back in for piece of mind.

That makes me nervous that you even had melted bits come off!

It just means that the belt can only take so much abuse. Better find a Goodyear belt!
The melted bits were probably from the very first belt I had.
My discovery means that my Stillen set of pulleys can still handle it after 2 years of service.

www.goodyear.com and go to belts/hoses for passanger cars, they have a part interchange.
D,

Since I'm running the stock pulley, will this one be ok?

I too have the gatorback, it used to squeal but now with 90 degress tension it doesn't squeal at all, even when it's pouring like no tomorrow at 30F.
