I wonder why this post exists if you already knew you wanted the 5-speed swap?

I was trying to find out what one was better. If the TC and P&P would make my car faster then 5 speed. Well I found out my answer and that is why I wrote this thread

With a 2.79 and 3.62 gearing you have indicated, we have plenty low first. We don't need any lower than a 10.0(2.79 x 3.62) ratio with the right stall. My Camaro was a 8.35 and with my 3600 I went to a 10.46 and my et did not improve. Been there done that! I did improve my 60' slightly going from a 3.23 to a 3.55 gear in my 10 second Mustang but I had a 2.48 first gear. That was going from an 8.01 to a 8.80 but with only a 3200 stall. Maybe no gain had I had a 3600 stall but would not have made it to the lights without going over max rpm.
Lets not forget how much more torque the camaro has. Therefore it doesn't really need as deep a gear as the VQ would. I've ran the simulations and the only time a 4.10 gear would accelerate worse than the stock 3.62s is from 120-130mph. As of now there have been only a handful of auto's that break 14s NA. Most of them without the VI have done it with smaller diameter tires that simulate having a 4.0+ final gear. Given the 5-12whp/5-12wtq loss in the auto over the 5spd it will need shorter gearing. So I'll agree to disagree .

i'll have to make this same decision in a few more years. im at 50k on my 5th gen auto right now... and whenever this tranny goes im thinking about swapping in a manual. i really dont know though. i think i'd abuse the hell out of it if i had a manual. really tough decision.
