Sumitomo tires are really loud when braking!!

hmm i jus noticed this last night while i was driving rather fast along with another org member on our way to a meet...that when i was braking hard, going from like 100+ back down to like 40 or so, my tires-sumitomo HTR+ 225/45/17, were sounding real LOUD..making a histling kinda sound almost, at first i wasnt sure if it was my brakes, engine, tranny, or sumthin else, but then i figured its the tires...theyre relatively new, have like 2-3k miles on them...do u think its the tire? or perhaps my air pressure is low? does anyone else with this tire experience it being LOUD when braking?
i also have slotted/dimple drilled rotors if that makes any difference on this

When I had the HTR+s only thing I disliked about them was the fact they were loud as fawk. I had them on 16s 225/50/16 and they were still pretty loud.. but they are awesome tires for the money.
I also heard most Sumitomos wear out mad fast but I didn't really get to experience this, I noticed wear after maybe 2k miles..

It sucks that they are loud. Time to turn the music up a little higher

We have the same setup. HTR+ and dimple-drilled rotors.
I don't hear my tires at all
I guess it is because I have the Greddy. Just get a cat-back & you'll be fine

well theres a difference btwn the HTRZ II and HTR+, the ZII have a treadwear of 220 i believe while the + have a 360 rating, so the + will last longer, and theyre also all season...theyre not ever really that loud, i even sumtimes like the noise, makes my tires sounds like they have attitude, but it was jus last night when i braked really hard on the highway a few times from 100+ down to like 30 or so that there was a loud deep HRRRMMMM kinda sound, almost like a cheap intake at low-mid RPMs, hehe
but yea a catback would probably knock out the rare noise, as does the music das always playing in my car

I have them in the 235-40-18 size so mybe that's why they are loud. I currently have about 4,000 miles on them and they seem to be wearing fine. if I were you I would look into those new Yokohama's ES 1000 ?? I guess that's their name. If not the HTRZII are good, I picked these over the Kumhos.
