Such a useless loss. What could have been a fun memory of taking the car for a fun run with Dad, now will haunt him forever.

Wow, that's sad how un-Maxima related that is. And it's also sad that the kid's father dies and the next day all he can think to do is go write about it on a freakin' forum. Doesn't he have a non-online life? I'm sorry, if I lost a family member, especially that tragically, I certainly wouldn't run home, jump on my PC, and tell the ORG about it. That's ****ed up.

First, I can't even imagine the pain he must be feeling. To be right
there and unable to save him is just plain horrible.

Kojiro - Perhaps he does have an online life with great friends and
strong relationships there. Perhaps his one constructive and
positive outlet for the pain/sadness/anger he's feeling is to write
it down. The process of writing to share your grief is cathartic.
He also provided a cautionary tale that could help save someone else
who'd consider handing over the controls of a performance car. I
really don't think it's your place or my place to judge his coping
methods; to each their own.

I disagree with the forum comment. My mother passed away in hospital 2 years ago - holding on long enough that I could fly 4500 miles back home to be with my family at her bedside as she passed.

And the next morning I walked into an internet cafe and posted in the online car forum that I was a well-known member of. There's something strangely comforting about having so many people you never met all being so understanding. When I got back to the US I tried to tell my close friends about it, and I just kept tearing up and I couldn't talk.

It's a lot easier typing that talking. I know how this guys feels. I don't ever want to feel like that again.

I agree. Sometimes it's best to talk/write/type about it then keep it all inside.

Recently I had a family problem. I posted a thread about it at Maximaforum.com and it really did helped. If not, all that anger that was inside of me, I could have something I regret. Of course, my situation was different.

Whether you talk about it or write about on an online forum, whatever helps. Better than keeping it all inside.

My parents have been divoriced ever since I was 5... although I havent seen my Dad in nearly 5 years, He lives in a Different state and I really dont have any contact with him, its tough going through life with only one parent, but talking about it always helps.. Im surprised on how everyone in this forum is soo supportive about accidents, deaths, etc.. Its a tough subject and the people on this forum still act comferting to one another...

i cant believe you could even say that! i couldnt imagine my father dying right there and not being able to find him and save him. i give that person mad credit and that must take a lot of courage. i hope that he can get through this, the loss of a family member is horrific. i am shocked that you can be such an *sshole to say that, and i hope to god that kid never comes across what you just posted.

i think you are the one that is f*cked up

If I posted a link to every story of someone who died, this forum would be packed and we'd never see another post about the Maxima again. It would take 400 pages of posts just to get through the poor people who died on 9/11.

lose someone important... writing down how you feel or talking to someone... especially someone who will not judge you really helps

if you have ever lost anyone you were really close to... you probably would understand, a forum is impersonal as you dont see these people everyday... but the people on the forums can feel your pain, without seeing you everyday as weak, vulnerable or whatever else you might fear someone you see every day will feel about you

something like this makes you think a bit about your own loved ones... maybe not Maxima related but hopefully its related to all of us?

if it taks 400 pages of posts, do it.
Maxima is not the first important thing in life and nowhere near #1. This is a maxima club. A club has members. Members talk about cars and not only cars. It's just a site where we get together and talk about anything. Sure, car topics are the majority but there are other things that come up.

I feel so bad for him. It sucks

Kojiro, you are a focking dumb ****.

The dude posted the story on the RX-7 forum not only to get comfort and to share, but also to warn them about the danger of mis-handling a high performance car.

If someone close to you dies while driving a Maxima, then dont' tell us about it.

But if somenone I know dies while driving a Maxima, and especially if the death occurred due to driver error, then I would certainly tell the org. about it.

Just because someone posts the death on an online "community" doesn't mean that person doesn't have a real life.

For you to say things like "If i were to post stories about everyone who died out there, blah blah blah", "like 9-11, then we would need 400 pages blah blah blah.."

It just shows how stupid you are. We are not talkinng about every single deaths that happen out there.

The point is on car related deaths of members of an online car community, whether it be the RX-7 or the Maxima. Particulary when the death occurred because the driver misconceived the car as being invincible. It is a mistake we all tend to make, and it is important to be reminded that car is just a car, and no car can defy the laws of physics.

This is why we need an OT section. People die driving cars every day. You wanna talk about it, fine, but it's not Maxima related. If that makes me dumb, then so be it.

There's sort of an unwritten rule...

That we're all members of a greater community of car-lovers, and by extension, a death in the family is one that impacts us all. If this story provides the opportunity for the son to vent his pain, and as one member put it, use it as a cathartic experience, then he's got that right, and I would encourage him to do so. Different people deal with things in different ways, and this is a coping mechanism for him. I'm sure he cried his way through the post, and I'll be damned if it didn't bring a tear to my eye.

And that brings me to my next point:
If even one person benefitted from that post, then it was worth posting. Whether it was a realization that you should drive more safely, contact your family more often, or change your attitude towards others who share your online community, then it was something that SHOULD have been posted.

I would recommend to anyone who posts on that RX-7 forum to put a link to our thread. We can show our fellow drivers and car enthusiasts that we do share their loss, and that we do care about others dying.

I don't know any of you guys personally (well, a few), and likely never will meet most of you, but, if something like this happened to me, I know I'd take some measure of comfort in knowing that there are other human beings out there who understand the value of human life, and who show some compassion for the loss and grief of others.

My condolences to the son and wife (and other family) of the father. I hope that your transition through this difficult time is met with the support and love that you need to ease your burden.

Mike

My prayers go out to the family.

I couldn't imagine losing my dad.

On a side note that newspaper article, is a bit odd. Police suspect alcohol? Why don't they just ask Brandon what exactly happened?

Unless I am reading this totally wrong.

Again, I feel truly sorry for him. Unfortunately, that article casts the whole story in a negative light. It almost seems that law enforcement and the news agency are ill-informed, seeing as how in the article that the state troopers didn't know the relation between the elder and younger Rushing

I'm sure that they know... Obviously they don't have the exact info... the guy was killed just one day before that story came out.

Anyways... still a sad story... no matter how it happened.
