Does a custom CAI with boost do that much?

I was wondering if the custom CAI with boost is really worth it. I hear that finding all the pieces are a pain in the a$$ also. People with boost and a custom CAI is it worth it, and if so where did you get all your parts/pieces from for your CAI?

I've been gathering parts for the SC CAI. All you need is a filter, hose, clamps, hose coupler (more stuff for the 5th gen). Check Chesbosto's write-up for it for details. With all the WAI vs CAI threads lately, it's getting harder to say which is better. However, boosted cars should have different results.

I am doing it this weekend and hopefully I will get an additional 1PSI also. I wont know really cause I am doing the 3.25" pulley and the CAI at the same time The 3.25" pulley is suposed to give 8-9PSi right?

I also wonder what the HP gain is on the custom CAI....

Don't count on the same 1psi gain, because it isn't the same setup! Kev's CAI setup eliminated that long azz pipe that ran all the way across the engine bay, which 4th gens. don't have.

I think your biggest gain will be consistency and torque down low when the ambient temps climb.

thats a good enough gain for me, any gain is a good gain when it comes to boost

Remember that you will probably have to remove the windshield washer fluid reservoir if you install the SC CAI. If you find another place to install the reservoir, please let us know. Most guys just leave it out. Here in Texas, you need to use the windshield washer, so I'm trying to figure out where to put it.

That's the problem. The way my SC CAI is setup, there's no room to put the windshield washer reservoir. I'm not totally sure if the SC CAI is worth it. I'm only getting 8psi right now on my V1 SC. Not sure if that has to do with the belt not being tight enough(which I'm in the process of retightening it), leaking Greddy BOV, or whatever. I'm thinking of going back to the pancake filter(probabably going to get a larger size one though)and put the washer reservoir back in.

Is it completely in the way or does it just not have enough clearence? I am just curious that if it did not have enough clearence maybe you could try findding a smaller resevoir off of some other car and try to bolt that in. Just curious.

I know on Honda's that this was a problem with the CAI on some cars, there is now a company that makes a smaller resevoir to accomodate this. Maybe a group deal through them wouldd make them produce a few for you guys.

See I really do not use my washers that much only in the winter sometimes to get the kickup dirty water off my windshield.
