you will always spend money on repairs on any car.. not much for this car.. but you will.. look into the starter problems prone to your year.. are you sure its 30k or 300k ? because 30k is little mileage for that year

I can only speak for the '98, it needed alot of things fixed under warranty:

side air bags
power brake check valve
fuel sending unit (qty = 3)
tranny leak reverse switch
oil leak (who knows where it was)
power steering leak (missed that one under warranty)
driver lumbar support

If not under warranty I wouldn't bother with fixing these items, the labor is too much and they seem to spend more time diagnosing when not under warranty. 31k for a 8-year old car is Porsche / Ferrari mileage. If you don't need the Maxima you may be better off selling it and making that cash work for you.

btw wassup with UT a buddy of mine moved out there--he was a s*** with the ladies in Philly but he said he can't find a woman in that state?

Man, you must literally drive across the street to work if your car has been a daily driver for seven years and has 31k on it.

If you use maintenence schedules to guestimate work on your car, I'd definitely keep in mind that it seems your drives are VERY stop-and-go. If so, your personal schedule would call for more frequent attention than that in the owner's manual.

What you should and shouldnt do depends on if you're a preventative maintenence kinda guy, or if you wait til things fail and then fix them. Just check the book for scheduled items to have an idea what should be replaced when. With the maxima, people seem to replace O2 sensors and knock sensors a little more frequently than other cars.

Search the board too if you have more specific questions

It's ironic that your in-frequent driving of the car would dictate that you stick to really short oil change intervals, like every 3000 miles, because your car must never warm up before you shut it off and go to work. 31K miles on a 95??

Had you not posted this question, all would have been fine for the
foreseeable future but...

Having posted this, you will now have to repair just about every
major mechanical part on your car.

95K miles, no problems except had to get a new engine and new tranny, but everything else is still original except the battery and spark plugs.

I have 106,000 on my 97...and the only stuff I've had to fix in almost 3 years and 80K miles of owning the car was a sway-bar end link bushing and the oil sender sensor.

Other than that....all other repairs were for things that I BROKE on my own...in other words...not the car's fault.
