louvers
The Maxima in the new Redline movie (the riceboy's Gone in 60 Seconds) has them I think. There's one blue Max (which I think is that) rolling around with a reverse-opening hood, louvers, and tons of good stuff under the hood.
Louvers...theyre those punched-out holes in rows on a car that look like vents. Not Buick portholes, but lines.

Yes, it was I!!
They're the hi-impact plastic louver inserts from an early 90s Z car. You can get them from Courtesy or Infinity of Scotsdale but you have to find someone to remove your hood and make a template in order to cut out the area. This is very difficult to do without screwing up your hood. I just dropped the louvers at the body shop to be painted and they will be ready friday.

The Louvers are centered over both strut towers and yes water does go into the engine compartment but it runs out through the framework and no harm done. As soon as you drive, everything dries real fast because of the motor.
