Light Wheels and Acceleration Time

Anyone tested thier Maxima at the track after replacing the stock
wheels with 13-17 pounds light weight rims? Just curious on how much improvement a set of new light weight rims will help in accerlation.

Most of the fast maxs have competition rims. Search around the 1/4 mile forum because they list mods. And yes less rotational mass will improve acceleration a lot if you get traction.

They'll help a little. In going from a 37lb wheel/tire combo to a 30lb wheel/tire combo I picked up .1 second and 1mph.

All I know is...

my car feels COMPLETLEY different.. changing me 40lb (wheel/tire) 300zx wheels to my 51-lb 18's.. it's like i add the whole turbo over again when i switch from my 18's to my stock wheels or Z wheels..

i never believed in the wheel weight thing THAT MUCH until I started playing with my 18's and 15's and 16's..

I'm now a believer.

Holy crap! Is that at each corner? That's like trying to run around with cement shoes.

which wheels and what size?

I bet they are triple chrome plated and at least 18" in size..
if not
you need to look into something else

I had chrome 17s once they were around 55 lbs with tires..
