I am [very] young, and my brother just bought my my first car (yep, that young). It is a black '87 Maxima SE. I am thinking about buying a new car, though I am stuck between a new Maxima or a Dodge Stealth. My father owns a '93 Stealth and my brother has a '93 Maxima.
The [stock] '93 Stealth R/T has 222 Hp, a top speed of 162 Mph and goes from 1-60 in 5.4 Mph.
The [stock] '93 Maxima SE has 160 Hp, and I don't know anything else. My brothers has 250 Hp, and is in the low 14's. So that shows you that you can always beef up the Maxima to have more power than the Stealth, but with the right mods you can give the Stealth 550 Hp (I've seen one with 717 Hp).

I am stuck between which one I should get. If I was to get a Stealth I would get a '93 R/T TT, and if I was to get a Maxima I would get a '93 SE. What do you think, I really need some info on my purchase. Could you give me some more info on the 3rd gen Maxima's?

Errrrr

How does your bro have 250hp in a 93 max? That don't sound right.

I'd go with the stealth because I'm more of a fan of the 4th gens, but if your brother indeed does have 250hp, buy his =) .. Get him to dyno it for ya first though hehehe.

You probably couldn't pick two more different cars. Personally, you're young, if I was you I would get the Stealth. Then again, can you afford the car? Insurance for a young kid on a stealth will be through the roof. I was 18 when I got my maxima and there was this beautiful 300zx tt that I was so close to buying but I couldn't justify paying over $6k a year on insurance.

But like I said, the cars are completely different. What are you looking for?

250hp 3rd gen eh.....

is that dynoed or using "Stillen's Riceboy Matematics"(adding HP as you get your bolt-ons, lol)?? I thought you were talking about the Stealth's HP at first, but his Max????? he'd have to have done some major internals as well as over 100shot NOS for that HP at the wheels!!!! and plus with 250hp I think he'd be in the mid to high 13's since most s/c Maxes are in the 13's w/ about 260hp+/-!!! once again I'm not doubting you, but damn.......250hp, kinda fishy???? BTW, go with the Max!!!(typical biased answer from a hardcore 3rd gen owener!!!!) SE, 5spd, 190hp, turn it into a sleeper and kick some a$$ on the street, plus I think the Stealths are ugly!!!!

Stealth vs. Maxima

First. I like the Stealth because it is more of a sports car, and the Maxima is more of a Luxery car.

CKNY, I doubt I would ever have enough money for a Twin Turbo Stealth, but I could probably get R/T that hasn't been taken care of for around $5,000. And WOW! Those insurance prices have to be wrong. By the time I turn 20 I would have paid $36,000 on insurance!

For the rest of you, you should have seen my brothers 375 Hp Vette which he sold for the Maxima
Ok, his Maxima isn't at 250 Hp yet. These are his mod's:

Random Technologies Converter
Flowmaster Cat-Back Exhaust
Cattman Jet-Hot Y-Pipe
Jim Wolf Technologies ECU
Stillen Short-Throw Shifter
Momo Leather Shift ****
Stillen Intake with K&N Filter
Bosch Platinum +4 Plugs
Courtesy Nissan FSTB
Sony Detachable Face CD
Sony XPlod 300 Watt Amp
Cerwin Vega Stealth Speakers
16" 5-Spokes with 205/45/ZR16's

This is what he said: "The intake manifold and heads are going to be sent to ExtrudeHone.com for porting when I have time to dive into the motor. After the extrude honing, the DOHC VE 3.0 engine should be putting out ~250HP at the flywheel."

So if I was to do what he did to a Maxima I could get more power than a Stealth. What about speed though? Does anyone know the top speed of a 3rd gen Maxima?
