Experience replacing all bearings in manual tranny

I finally got my car back I had bearing noise and they verified the input shaft bearing I think front and rear were bad but I told them to replace all the bearings. I guess all you true troopers and Do it your selfers would replace them all anyway but if you are having bearing noise just get them all replaced the bearing kit cost under $200.00 this included all 6 bearings. The car is so quiet now and seems to shift so smooth now. If I have a bearing problem within 2 years I am dumping the car, I read certain post saying the bearings in the 5sp suck in the last 7 months

new alternator I have a 97 but not recall
new clutch (Centerforce Dual Friction)HI SPRINTY
new throw out bearing
new slave and master cylinder
new bearing kit

I am done with this car for now

DOH!!!!

Stay away from your redline. Those Centerforce Dual Affliction clutches can't tolerate any real RPMs.

Good luck.

I have had the clutch on since May and have made about 10 runs at the track and put 18K miles in only 6 months (Atlanta commute) it has not slipped yet. I live near the redline

I am actually speaking from my SE-R experience. The CDF didn't care much for my 8000 RPM redline. I only had to learn that lesson once. Even after they replaced the clutch for free, it never went back in the car.

Trust me I read over 100 post six months ago about clutches perhaps I fit in the small percentage that has not had any problems with the clutch. It has never slipped and I see redline every single day as I said in previous post the clutch was put in during May. NO need for me to search now Sprint I am not a new jack, I searched and read every single post made about the Centerforce back in May so far so good.

Me too I had all that done plus a new starter and spark plugs, but I am soooo mad about my clutch I didnt have the money to get a ACT so I got an oem replacement and that thing slips like a mother I hate it.
If I have a full load of people in my car and I shift quick it slips I almost had a wreck. Do you think my car will be alot quicker with a ACT clutch.

pat- how many miles you got on your car?

I just passed 120K. I am looking at at tranny at 170K.. ( please tranny gods, let it last that long ) and a motor at 200K ( please motor gods let it last that long )

You can only mod a motor/tranny so much before they break.. if we did not mod they would last longer, but what would be the fun in that?

I think its the pressure plate cause it only slips when I really get into the engine and shift hard.... its crazy. Lets say I shift from first to second it will stay at 5rpm and slowly and I mean slowly climb to redline. I let off cause I think I might tear somthing up.

Pat you will soon you ll want more power and you will realize why the CF DF clutches are not favorable. Ask Mardigrasmax when he only ran 10PSI of boost. Eventually it will wear out and you can get a ACT.

i replaced all of the above except the alternator.

long long story about the act and my throw out bearing. my car was spread eagle at team nissan while i battled back and forth with act about why my throw out bearing looked like a crushed bear can. i hsd to also replace both wheel bearings thats an annoying noise.
now the left cv joint is toast.

anyway are you giving up on it?

are you going to sell it and buy somthing else?

Only 91K the car is running great if I get another 91K miles out of it without touching the tranny I will be

Jamie, I'm good no boost for me the only other perfomance mods in my future beside suspension are UDP and possibly MEVI but after reading post lately I am not sure of VI Whenever this clutch dies my next one will be an ACT. Next door to the tranny shop there is a NOPI I dropped off the car for input bearing repair (six months ago) walked 30 feet to NOPI walked out with CF DF clutch picked up car 5 hours later no problems yet.

Carl,

I am definetly keeping the car I was just saying I should not have to even think about seeing another tranny shop for 3 years.....I hope I forgot to mention I had driver side wheel bearing relaced too. She is smooth as butta now.

Dude it would drive me crazy to spend that kind of loot and not be able to "drive" my car the way I want. I can not speak for an ACT some guys with ACT can chirp 3rd I am not chirping third with the CF DF clutch but I am getting signifigant tire spinn going into second. Did you break in the OEM clutch. Some guys are 100K miles with OEM clutches and still chirpin second.

I hope you knocked on wood when you said that!

That's what I said when the clutch was replaced at 120... the freakin tranny died now at 140k (bearings ****ed). I am so ****ed, worthless POS. That car has been maintained to the MAX, so much money put into it on maintenance and blah blah blah. I just wish the problem came around 20k miles ago when the tranny was dropped anyways. I even aksed the mechs to chek out the tranny just in case and they said everything looked good. Oh well, I am dumping the car if the problem comes again after i get this tranny fixed soon.
