Guys,
I took a trip to the upper UP of Micigan from Cleveland Ohio last weekend and had trouble with my V1. It would false Laser all the time. More so as it got dark and people with their lights on were behind me. The rear laser sensor is bad and picking up peoples headlights as the light source that triggers a laser warning. At the same time it began to alert a K band signal everytime someone went by with another radar detector.
I called V1 and they said the laser problem was common on V1's made in the past year. The falsing was also common. Turns out, some units weren't 'tuned' right from the factory!!!! WTF! That made me mad....as I have got a ticket with the V1 before and I thought it should have warned me further out than it did...but we all know how that can work

So...if you are having troubles with yours...call V1 and tell them about it. Mine was even out of warranty and they fixed it for free!!!

also

if you place your hand in front of the rear laser detector, it will sometimes go off. Something about picking up your electronic waves or some such stuff.

True. Had to send mine back...

shortly after buying it because of the laser falsing you described. It was one of the first laser V-1's, so the problem has been around awhile. Valentine retured it in about a week and it's been fine ever since, over seven years.
Apparently their quality control slips a bit from time to time, at least on this issue. My V-1 is still priceless though, for peace of mind while driving. I feel naked without it. :-)

Wonder if it was sensing your parents in the house? Maybe it's not so dumb after all.

My does it on the KA band but not Laser... I will try and sent it back when i get into town.

I know something is wrong b/c if it was truely picking something up, turning the V1 around should change the direction in which it's coming from... well it doesn't... I can "fix" it b/c unplugging it and plugging it back. It's happened a few times..... sucks.

how long is the warranty i forgot.. is there an extedned one?? cuz if there is then i think i got it...
