hi- I have a 96 max gxe and the power steering assist is getting on my nerves. There is just about no resistance when I turn the wheel. My dad has a 00' SE and its steering feels awsome. Heavy tight, responsive etc. Is there any way to make my steering feel heavier like the 00' se? thanks

From what I understand, the newer 5th gen Max's have speed sensitive power steering... Dunno about the 4th gens, but when I drive fast in my 2k, the steering feels very rigid.. (good, i like!!),... when parking the car, tho, it's smooth as silk!!!

That's easy to fix....

Get a new set of wider rims and tires with better traction rating than the set you got on your Max now.

Really? I thought my Maxima GLE is hard to turn. I was reading in a maxima booklet that its feather light while parking, but I must be weak cuz Its hard to turn with just one hand while parking. My sister accord I could do it with one finger.

It's not THAT bad... maybe you have a prob. with your power steering??

(most people don't quite appreciate it power steering, until they've driven a car without ANY power steering at slow speeds!!!)

Actualy I owned a 91 Civic Si for 10 years then I got the Maxima '00. The Civic had NO power steering. True the Maxima does have PS, but I was hoping for something easy to turn at low speed and harder at higher. For parking, you can't just "roll" your hands over the wheel to turn like I could with my sisters Accord. So it gets a bit bothersome being the Maxima is such a big upgrade compaired to the Civic I had. Parking is much harder.
