pls recommend a car wash soap that preserves wax

hey guys

I'm looking for a good car wash soap/fluid I could use to wash my car with. I've always used dish washing detergent and Im sick of having to wax it everytime (do'nt wash my car that often lol). Can someone recommend a good brand i could get that takes the dirt and crap off the car w/o taking the wax off w/ it. Thanks

Honestly I've used Meguiar's Rich Suds, Meguair's Soft Suds, Mother's California Gold, Turtle Wax car wash, and many others, and I have YET to find one that effectively washes without removing any wax.

I'm pretty satisfied with Meguiars cleaner/wax. Normally I don't believe in the "all-in-one" product but this stuff cleans tar off the car like there's no tomorrow. Then the water beads like regular wax. I did mine in July and didn't was the car since, it still beads. my .02

Turtle Wax has this car soap that has wax in it. It does a not so great job of washing the car compared to say Meguires/Mothers/Simoniz, but it does leave a VERY small amount of wax on your car.

Thanks for the advice guys, i went to walrmart and bought Meguires crysal deep clean car wash. Damnit i need to get the california water blade, i saw it there for 20 bucks, but at costco they have it for 10 i heard. I need to go get that, i use the absorber but it isn't good enough. I hate the superblack paint!!!!! every freakin drop of water shows up on it, black is so hard to maintain. I waxed the car but this stupid crap weather, here in california its freezing and as i'm wiping the haze of the car (by 5:30PM it was dark) it started condensing and smearing all over the place so i gave up and im gonna wipe it off in the morning. I'm prepping the car up for the NorCal meet tomorrow... woot first maxima meet for me haha

mzmtg- lol thanks for ure advice again way back then, i did what you told me and sprayed it all down and it's pretty clean! I still need to give the plastic under the hood that "wet" look tho.

thanks guys, i think im gonna go park the car in the garage and see if it's good enough to wipe down.

Don't know how this works on other waxes, but it's super gentle and works good.

Here's a general tip....almost anything that you can buy at WalMart or Advance or places like that is geared toward the masses who don't want to spend a lot on car care products. Most of it, while produced by respectable names, is the stuff at the bottom of the heirarchy of products for any company. The good stuff, the expensive stuff is usually not found in retail stores like that. I use P21S Bodywork Conditioning Shampoo and it does a good job of preserving wax. Its about 10 bucks for a 16.9 oz bottle but you get what you pay for. Zaino is good stuff too and some of the top of the line Meguiars products work wonders as well. But as a general rule, the Meguiars stuff that you see in Walmart etc. is not the best stuff that Meguiars makes. Granted, this is not true for EVERYTHING you see in Walmart but do some research on what the pro's use.

There's a lot of stuff that people do and a lot of products that people buy to wash their cars with that end up scratching the paint and they are completely oblivious. That's why you'll see people saying, "I just waxed my car, where are those swirl marks coming from?" Well, they're more than likely putting those swirl marks into the paint as they wash or wax it. Paint is so delicate it's not even funny, especially factory paint jobs. There's some wonderful info at this site. I suggest reading up on what the REAL do's and don'ts of washing and waxing are. Of course this is only one opinion:

That's pretty impressive. Which Meguiar's did it say they used? It brings up another good point. You can't ALWAYS live by the rule that more expensive means better. You saw there that the $144 stuff got outperformed by the Zaino...which isn't cheap and is a great brand, and even the little brother of the Zymol...I've seen that cheap Zymol in Wal-mart before and it goes to show that the comment I made about EVERYTHING in Wal-mart not being bad stuff holds true. I guess the best thing to do is test products until you find one you're happy with.....just try not to scratch up your paint in the process!

I think they may have found different results if they had used something like Meguiars #26 in paste form. Its a quality wax with a good lifespan. Plus it has a good % Carnauba content. I'll bet 30-40% of the org members will swear by Meguiars #26. It's very popular among enthusiasts.
