zero to sixty in 4.8 seconds
Hi guys
I have never really thought about doing this test before. Today I decided to try it out. I did the measurement by two methods:
1. using my turbo timer which has a 0-60 function
2. g-tech pro
I consistently got below 5 seconds. I even got 5.5 seconds with passengers! I went up and down the same stretch of road to make sure that there was no gravity (going down hill) effects.
The g-tech consistently read about 0.1 to 0.2 seconds faster than the turbo timer. I know that these devices are not the most accurate, but they were pretty close considering they use two completely different methods of measuring.
It's fun but kind of rough on the engine and tranny!
By the way, this is at 5000 ft above sea level.

Check out this 0-60 calculator http://www.auburnextremeracing.com/info/60_times/ . You can put your track times in there and get a pretty accurate reading. I got 4.75 0-60 there
(track's tire compound helps a bit)

I have tried the 1/4 mile thing but I hit 100 mph very quickly before 1/4 measurement is done and I shut it down at 100mph.

I think I could do better at sea level. As far as boost hitting earlier, I don't think you want it too much earlier. Probably 3500 is as early as you should go. My tires started to lose traction as I pulled through the gears and they're much heavier than my stock '97 rims.

I dont want to start the whole "Corrected time are crap, you will be killed for asking" like in the 1/4 mile talks all the time. But just for kicks is there a way to calculate out the 0 - 60 times difference for him being at such a high altitude and figure it out for if he was at sea level?

Was it a Lingenfelter Corvette
They do a quarter mile time of 9.2 seconds consistantly and have a 0-60 time of 1.97 Seconds making it the fastest STREET LEGAL car on the market. Also a Top speed of 250 MPH doesn't hurt either all for the penny pincher price of $150,000, you can buy 5 of them for every Mclaren F1 and it is even faster than that. Any buyers
Just to elaborate, the wastegate or BOV in turbo cars does alot of work bleeding off excess boost that turbos almost always make. They open only at a certain pressure. At high altidudes, the pressure takes a wee bit longer to reach, and the wastegate still stays closed until that pressure is reached, so the turbo is still able to provide full boost.
