Looks like a short-throw shifter to me. What makes you think it is just a short shift rod? Anyway...never heard of it.

hmm it looks somewhat similar to the pacesetter shifter.. but of course its not adjustable. why not get it and see how it works? It's only 17 bucks + shipping, right?

a short throw shifter goes under the hood, and if it was a short throw it would say throw, it only says short shifter

Don't all shifters short throw or not, go where the orginal shifter is? Like pop the old one out, and put the new on in its place.

its not directly under the hood... i havent installed one, but that isnt a short throw shifter, it only lowers the height of the shifter

STS does not go under the hood. It is the shifter itself 5MT or 6MT.

There are a few diff kindas of short throw shifter.

There are shifters that are shorter in height ONLY. This still reduces throw. The reduces throw b/c it is shorter.

Now, there are short throw shifters that are the same height as the OEM shifter but reduces the throw.

the thread's poluted but i'll post anyways

a fellow altima owner bought the shifter and said it does shift shorter. i don't remember if he said it sits lower tho. Also, the bottom part was so long that he had to bend his heatshield. In addition, the ball pivot was too small to fit in the rubber race thingy.

In conclusion, he said it wasn't worth the low price.

If you're willing to wait, I'm prototyping individual shifters for 3rd, 4th, and 5th gens from KartBoy (www.kartboy.com). He's had success with Altima shifters and I want to make shifters to specific generations of maximas to maximize potentials.
